Basketry is one of the old traditions that is practiced among the Acholi people. There are lots of different basket weaving styles, and techniques.

Basketry is a practical craft to create a receptacle for carrying belongings, in most cases food stuff.

It involves the use of natural materials, often sturdy grasses, palms and branches or wood splints, a basket is woven by building a foundation and then weaving supporting pieces around the foundation to create a bottom and walls.

Ever wondered how people made friends in the past? In Acoli, the Aguma dance was organized in the dry season after the farm work was done, people traveled far and wide to meet new people and make friends in different villages. This was also a courtship dance and a way to find partners. The Gulu Art Exhibition happening tomorrow Elephante Commons from 4pm to 8pm shall be graced by the Paibona Boys who will be putting on a live cultural band performance to entertain all those in attendance. Waterbucks live in harems of females and young ones controlled by one dominant male. The dominant male protects and mates with the females when on heat. The other male waterbucks live in the bachelor's herd and practice how to fight to challenge the dominant male and capture the colonised territory. As the dominant male can not mate With all the females on heat at once, the strong males usually get the chance to also mate and pass on their genes.

A family of elephants usually has about 17 individuals, this was a group of up to 100 individuals. Watching them go about eating their daily fill was simply exhilarating.
