#StillAboutKidepoValleyNationalGamePark: We were honored to be chosen by a very lovely family to organize their family holiday in Kidepo. Apparently, they saw one of our comments about Kidepo on TULAMBULE UGANDA group. I don't rem the exact comment but yes we gladly took it on. They surely enjoyed the trip, I could see excitement. Well, in our itinery one of the activities was a cultural trail. Our UWA contact recommended #LorutukCommunity. I must say it's worth it. Next time you have a trip in Karamoja make it one of your Adventures. There was a lot to learn- We got to learn about marriage in Karamoja. For example we were led to a homestead of a man with 7 wives (Oba how many of us can stay in the same compound with a co wife leave alone the same townππ). All of them staying in the same compound. Each wife had her own hut. 6 of the huts looked pretty much the same size while the 7th was bigger. It's where we were ushered into. Earlier we were told, this particular bigger hut is for the 1st wife. It's being big is significant of the power she holds within the family setting. It's in her hut where seed for the next season is preserved and it's also in her hut where what is presumed precious to the family is kept. The 1st wife is trusted and respected by all the 6 wives. The 1st wife has a role in vetting a will be bride for her husband (but mwe do you ever consult your wife when you want to add?π€ͺ) and the 1st wife is called mum by all the her cos. (interesting to me). The other thing I found fascinating was the #CourtshipDance. Well, the dance is for all ages but it mainly attracts young unmarried women and men. It's during this dance that boys observe the girl who dances best. Since the dance involves use of a lot of energy. It's presumed the higher the girl jumps, the more energetic she is and will manage to run a home. Yes, this community puts emphasis on the "Physical Strength of a woman". I guess cause of the chores a woman is expected to perform e.g f
