Uganda is to host a premier tourism event the Africa Travel Association (ATA) from November 11-16 in Kampala.

KAMPALA - November. 2014 - Uganda is to host a premier tourism event the Africa Travel Association (ATA) from November 11-16 in Kampala.
The 39th Annual ATA World Congress provides a business networking, learning and agenda-shaping platform for the most diverse group of tourism industry stakeholders of any travel industry event on the continent.
This signature event, which will be held at the Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo, will address timely industry topics, offer a lineup of educational and professional development opportunities and showcase Uganda’s tourism products and services. The last Congress was held in Cameroun in 2013. Uganda first hosted the ATA Eco-Tourism Symposium in 2014.
The congress will be used to promote Africa’s destination, bringing together regional industry and business and address emerging opportunities and challenges of promoting tourism. The event will highlight key issues ranging from facilitating tourism accessibility, investment, promotion and the inclusive engagement of youth and women in tourism. The ATA conference will among other activities include the following.
Opening ceremony by H.E. The President of Uganda
Tourism Ministers’ Roundtable and Media Symposium.
Culinary and Tourism Collaborative Programme.
Tourism Investment and Young Professionals Forum.
Uganda International Tourism Expo to be held at the Uganda Museum 14th – 16th November 2014.
The Cultural Night at Ndere Cultural Centre by Hon. Dr Maria Mutagamba on November 13th Nov 2014.
ATA Patron’s Dinner & Awards to be graced by the First Lady Hon. Janet Museveni.
Nile Adventure Day led by the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga to be held on November 15th at the Source of the Nile in Jinja.
International Media familiarisation trip to Uganda’s national parks.
Over 300 regional and foreign delegates are expected to attend the Congress. The ATA’s headquarters are located in New York, USA.
ATA’s patron is the First lady of Uganda, Hon Janet Museveni . Host Minister Hon. Dr. Maria Mutagamba while the Uganda ATA Chapter President is Mrs. Susan Muhwezi.
