3 Days Kenya Safari to Samburu National Park and Cultural Tour of the Samburu people starts from the southern corner of the Samburu district, the rift valley. It lies in the semi-desert Samburu National Reserve, named after the Samburu people who have lived in the area for many years. The word Samburu comes from the Maasai word samburu, which is a traditional leather bag for carrying honey and milk. Amidst the park flows the life-giving Ewaso Ng’iro River. It derives its name from a local language – and it means brown or muddy water, this river attracts a large population of Kenyan animals to the reserve. The unfenced park is relatively small in size compared to other Kenyan parks such as Tsavo and Masai Mara.

On 21 Days Uganda Rwanda Kenya Tour you’ll see that, today, Uganda is a land visited for its incredible natural environment as opposed to being avoided for its man-made one.

In Kibale Forest National Park, we try to spot and identify some of the 12 species of primates that inhabit the area and when we enter Queen Elizabeth National Park, we can marvel at sterling views of the famous ‘Mountains of the Moon’ as we make our way through a diverse range of ecosystems.

Our expedition to catch sight of mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest continued on as we cross into Rwanda, where we visit the Parc National des Volcans, where the late Dian Fossey undertook her monumental conservation efforts. Worthy of a stay of at least a couple of days in duration, Parc National des Volcans allows us to track one of five families of gorillas in their natural habitats – truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Semuliki national park is located on the floor of the Albertine rift in the Semuliki valley, Semuliki national park is in the shadows and marks the northern end of the Rwenzori Mountains, Semuliki is a lowland rainforest, an extension of the larger Ituri rainforests of the Congo basin. Semuliki marks the extreme ends of rainforest and emergence of East African savannas and grasslands. River Semuliki roars from the Ruwenzori Mountains and join other smaller streams onto the Semuliki valley making Lake Albert that marks the northern boundaries of Semuliki National Park.
There is a remarkable band of woodland, grassland and wetland vegetation between the rainforest and Lake Albert. Semuliki national park is habitat to more than 60 mammal, 400 bird, 300 butterfly and moths species. Because much of Semuliki is enclosed rain forest, it is often hard to spot large mammal species except the edges of Lake Albert where mammals congregate during the heat of the afternoon.
