Dear God
It's tough out here
We're losing our minds
In this circus called life
Our homes are filled with tears
Streets painted, blood
Our sleeves drenched in filth

We're out in the darkness
Chasing bags & dreams
Without candles to light our way
In so doing, we've hurt people
People have hurt us too
What's to be done with these falling bridges
Broken hearts & fading colors

One moment we're chasing dreams
Next minute, it's all shadows
We burry our faces in sad songs
Unrequited love, parties & liquor
We're too young to bear so much pain
To walk barefoot on these piercing grounds

Families turn their backs on us
We lost faith in everything -
Things that once kept our pieces together;
Religion, God, gravity...
'cuz our despair onky rises & never falls.

We've learned to dress naked
Because no one really pays attention to us
Beneath these cheap fabrics
The tattoos & piercings on our bodies
Is how we fight rejection to feel valuable

They call us wayward
Same voices that condemned us to doom
Ignored our GOOD & televised our EVIL
Same voices that denied us glory
Because of our origins

How do we chase these dreams
Without every bartender in the neighborhood memorizing our names?
How do we chase these dreams
Without every graveyard trying to seduce us to an early sleep?

How do we chase these dreams
Without losing our souls & what makes us whole ?
How do we chase these dreams without denying our origin?
The very thing that defines our existence, our souls.

What even are these dreams
