Rhinoceros also abbreviated as a Rhino is a member of the five extant odd-toed angulates. There are 5 living species of rhinos, 2 African black and white rhinos and 3 Asian greater one horned, sumatran and Javan rhinos. Rhinos are huge as the the white weighs up to 3500kg,though called back and white it's measleading as both are actually grey.Their group is called a crash ,male called a bull and a female called a cow ,the female tend to be more sociable than the solitary males. All rhinos have 2 horns except the Javan and greater one horned rhino with one horn which grows following its life span to almost up to 7cm and these horns are made up of keratin the same protein which forms the basis of our hair and nails. African buffaloes also known as cape buffaloes are considered one of the big 5 animals living in sub Saharan countries. They mostly occupy plain lands and river valley mostly searching grass and roughage since they are herbivorous. These are animals are the most furious animals in that they like fighting and attacking human beings. Lions are among the big five animals namely leapard, elephants, buffalo, rhino meaning they are not easy to hunt.A big percentage of lions live in African with in the Kalahari desert and other small percentage in India. Lion is known to be the king of the jungle due to it roar and strength and live in a group called a pride where the females care for the Cubs together and these cubs can suckle from any female with milk and the few males are their to defend the pride.The male lions grow lanes and these lanes grow long as the males grows old of about 16cm which protect their head from injuries and also attract the females. They are big eaters consuming 40kgs of meat and gets its water from preys and also from plants. A warthog is a common animal belonging to the pig family living in most grassland,savanna and woodlands of sub Saharan Africa.it is herbivorous animal meaning feeds mostly on grass but also eats small animals,it is considered as a stupid animals because it forgets easily compared to other animals. When feeding it kneels where most people miscort it saying it's always thanking God for the food but the reason is it has short necks which cannot reach the ground and while running it rises it's tail up to give other groups direction. A warthog group is called a sounder with a male called a boar ,female called a sow and it's young one called a piglet. A hippopotamus also known as a hippo is a large herbivorous, semiacquatic and angulate living in a sub Saharan Africa.it spends most of it's life in water in order to cool its body temperature since it's body is made up of fats which can melt in case of too much heat. Ahippo stays in water when there is much heat but goes out to graze 7m away from the water body in case of cool temperatures,a hippo is a hind gut fermenter meaning it takes in heavy food and doesn't chew the cud.a hippo lives in a group called a blot also known as a school dominated by a male with other females, it has a gestation period of 14_15 months and the life span of 30_40 years .despite of it's large body when it grows old it makes it safe from it's predators though the Lions, leapard hyenas always attack and kill the young ones. Zebras are equines with white and black stripes,they always white and brown when young but the brown colour blackens when they grow old.zebrs exist in 3 species namely Marvy, plain and mountain zebras and these are grazers meaning they feed on short grass and that's why they only exist in 2 National parks in Uganda with the favorable conditions that is Lake Mburo NP and Kidepo valley NP. Gorillas most amazingly have human acts not forgetting that they almost share 98% of human DNA.Come and have a look at the 2 major species of Gorillas namely the eastern and the western Gorillas,mountain gorillas are a sub-specie of eastern gorillas.These mountain gorillas are endangered and of approximate number of 1063 according to last 2- 5 years census.The mountain gorillas live in isolated groups one living in virunga a region shared by the 3 National parks in Uganda,Rwanda and DRC and another one in Bwindi impenetrable National park in Uganda.They are considered the biggest living primates with a male weighing around 180kg and 170cm tall.The mountain gorillas make eating as a hobby spending a quarter of their day eating, they feed on snails,ants and barks.During the night gorilla groups sleep together in the nests on ground and in trees made from foliage.They normally make different calls such as making short barks especially when they are curious and the male ones beat their chests, roar and hoot to intimidate rivals.Mountain gorillas live in family groups of 10 with a dominant male and several females. African elephant.The biggest animal in world.A African elephant is bigger than an Asian elephant and can be identified by its huge ears shaped like a map of Africa.It lives in a matriarchal family headed by eldest female elephant called a matriarch. An old African elephant weighs 7 tonnes with a height of almost 7feet .It has a life span of 60-70 years in captivity and a gestation period of 22 months. It feeds on roots,fruits,grasses and tree barks and consumes almost 3000kg of food a day.During the dry season it uses it protruding teeth called the tusks to dig up the river bed and create water holes for other animals and uses its tusks to fight other elephants. It has along nose like called a trunk used for smelling,feeding,drinking among others. It an amazing strong memory in that it still remember where it passed after like a period of 10 years.

Giraffes. Not famous to all parks of Uganda but mainly traced in muchison falls NP,pian-upe game reserve and has been translocated to Lake Mburo National Park.its the tallest animal of approximately 4 metres which modifies it to be a browser meaning it feeds on tall tips of the trees.its magical in its movement where it move it's legs of side at the same time which is not in other animals.A group is called a tower and it's young one is a calf and with a gestation period of 14-15 months.A male is entirely brown but the male has some black spots.Follow the link "gorillasinparadise.Com "
