The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many more. It is also home to a number of rare and endangered species, such as the cheetah and the black-backed jackal.

The park is home to a number of bird species, including ostriches, eagles, and vultures. It is a birdwatcher's paradise, with over 450 species of birds recorded in the park.

It is located in a semi-arid savanna landscape, which is very different from the other national parks in Uganda. This landscape is characterized by rolling hills, open grasslands, and acacia trees.

The park is also home to the Karamojong people, a semi-nomadic tribe that has inhabited the area for centuries. Visitors can learn about the Karamojong culture and way of life through cultural tours and interactions with the local people.

Did you know!!!

Uganda is home to over 5,000 elephants, with most of them found in protected areas such as Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park?

These gentle giants that weigh between 3500kgs to 12000kgs, are not only a major attraction for tourists visiting Uganda but also play a crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem balance in these parks.

Interestingly, elephants in they have developed a unique feeding behavior known as "swamp bashing." During the rainy season, elephants venture into the wetlands in search of food.

Instead of wading through the swamps, they use their trunks to pick up mud, and then blow it into the air, creating a cloud of dust. The elephants then use their tusks to dig up the roots of the vegetation, which they feed on.

This behavior is not observed in elephants in other parts of the world, making Ugandan elephants truly one of a kind.

Leopards are one of the hardest large species to observe in Uganda due to their nocturnal and solitary behavior and well-camouflaged coat.

They are adaptable to warm and cold climates and can climb trees while carrying heavy prey, which keeps them safe from other predators such as lions and hyenas.

Most leopards in Uganda are light-colored with distinctive dark spots called rosettes. Leopards that appear with almost a solid dark color and spots hard to distinguish are commonly called black panthers.

If you want to see leopards in Uganda, you can visit Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and other parks
