tiger hunt at night and prey on a variety of animals, but it prefers fairly large prey such as wild pigs, monkeys, ground birds, ungulates, porcupines, fish among many others with exceptionally large mammals such as elephants and adult buffalos but may bring it down when a chance prevails. After making a kill and consuming what they can, tigers deliberately hide the carcass for the next meal from scavengers and vultures.

Lions eat zebras often, but they tend to choose carefully which of the wild horse-like creatures they hunt. One study researched the rates at which lions kill zebras. It determined that lions killed juvenile zebras more frequently between May and July than during any other time of the year. They also found lions kill more infant zebras (foals) between November and January. However, only about 15% of all zebra kills were foals (combining infants and juveniles). The study was unable to give a final say regarding why lions changed their killing habits throughout the year. Lastly, the study reported that the extinction of zebras would not bear significance to lions because they seek out other prey. On the other hand, lion extinction would cause a massive boom in zebra populations. if you tour with us you will get to know about all of this. come to Allied Car Safaris https://alliedcarsafaris.com/, [email protected], What's App 0774 250594

Why should I never go to Africa?”

Several good reasons come to mind.

You should never go to Africa because here anyone can come and visit you. We don’t knock, we just come in.

You should never go to Africa because you might get confused. We know what we mean, but you won’t.

You should never go to Africa because you might think you have right of way in the lobby. But you don’t.

You should never go to Africa because we do things differently, and you might not know how to pack.

You should never go to Africa because it’s a continent with 54 countries, all different. It will mess with your world view, because once you visit and see the incredible size and diversity of this continent, it will destroy the pigeonholes and stereotypes that help you make snap judgments and generalizations about people and places.

You should never go to Africa because it’s not safe. Africa might steal your heart. You might never want to return home. You might be changed forever. You might get kidnapped by Africa. It will capture you and never let you go.

You should never go to Africa because Africa is not for everyone. Africa is for those who love beauty and contrast and wildlife and people and space. People who enjoy snow-capped mountains and bustling cities and colourful markets and sun-kissed beaches. And scorching deserts and wild jungles and endless savannas.

Africa grows on you, it grows into you, it grows you.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

We strive to share our love to create your incredible dreams by creating unforgettable tour and travel experiences for to always reflect on our stay with us as we tour you around.

The weather and rains of the place they move to give them green grass and food sources.
Wildebeest and zebras need each other for safety, food, and water. Zebras have great eyesight, can see danger from far away, and have great memories, all of which help them live in the wild.

Hippos can eat up to 150 pounds (about 75kg) of food, which is primarily grass, in a day. They feed on grass, herbivores that they are, and can quite easily strip their habitats down to bubble. They can weigh close to three tons; their massive weight doesn’t slow them down on land. They can run 30 to 40 km per hour on land, which faster than humans. Hippos are the second largest land animals in the world, only eclipsed in size by the elephant and can be seen quite easily in Uganda. Most of the lakes and rivers in the country are habitats for hippos. The full name is hippopotamus and derived from Greek to mean river horse. They are the third heaviest animals in the world. Elephants and rhinos are heavier than the hippos.
Hippos are what one would call semi aquatic. They spend time on both land and in the water. They actually spend quite a lot of their time in water, but cannot swim; they mostly just keep bouncing off the bottom of the water. Daytime for the hippos is mostly spent in water as a way to shield fr

The many species of monkey have varied relationships with humans. Some are kept as pets, others used as model organisms in laboratories or in space missions. They may be killed in monkey drives (when they threaten agriculture) or used as service animals for the disabled.

In some areas, some species of monkey are considered agricultural pests, and can cause extensive damage to commercial and subsistence crops. This can have important implications for the conservation of endangered species, which may be subject to persecution. In some instances farmers’ perceptions of the damage may exceed the actual damage. Monkeys that have become habituated to human presence in tourist locations may also be considered pests, attacking tourists.

The Grey-Crowned Crane has a breeding display that involves an elaborate dance with various jumping and bows. This is not uncommon for birds, however, the Crested Crane is known to dance year-round. They can be seen dancing at any time of the year, including non-breeding periods.

Young birds are also often seen joining in the dancing, meaning these birds love to dance!

A campfire is a fire at a campsite that provides light and warmth, and heat for cooking. It can also serve as a beacon, and an insect and predator deterrent. Established campgrounds often provide a stone or steel fire ring for safety. Campfires are a popular feature of camping.

23/11/2023

A better representation of the circle of life probably cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The journey starts in Southern Serengeti when wildebeest calves are being born. Predators like lions and hyenas are constantly hunting for babies, and thousands and thousands of calves are born within a couple weeks of each other – a feast for the eyes of true wildlife enthusiasts.

When the drought comes in May, the herd moves north, towards the Masai Mara in Kenya, chomping down the high green grass, quickly followed by the gazelles and zebras. The migration is not without risk: crossing rivers means facing about 3,000 crocodiles, patiently waiting for a kill. Not to mention the famous Serengeti lion population: by far the largest in Africa. Despite the abundance of hoofed meat in this area, life is not easy for these big cats in this unforgiving landscape. But seeing a group of lions collaborating to hunt down a wildebeest is an unforgettable sight.

Then, with the beginning of the short rains in late October, the migration makes its way back into the Serengeti. By December, the herds trek past Seronera - a small settlement in central Serengeti where the official Serengeti Visitors’ Centre is located - to return to their calving grounds again, and the circle is complete. It is a matter of choice whether you would like to plan your Serengeti safari around the Great Migration. We have mentioned earlier that the Serengeti is a year-round destination as it covers a vast area and offers unparalleled wildlife viewing. Chances that you will be at the exact spot of the Great Migration herd crossing a river (either at the Grumeti or Mara River) are very slim. Also, the timing of herd movements cannot be guaranteed. However, if you choose the right part of the Serengeti: the southeast and Ndutu from December through to May, the Western Corridor from May to July, the Serengeti Mara area from July trough to October, and the northern Serengeti and Lobo area in October and November, large herds of wildebeest and their entourage should be easily located.

We are delighted - but not at all surprised - to hear that our favourite East African country UGANDA has been voted "Best Safari Country" by travelers.
"Every year the reviews of travelers help to decide which country should wear the crown as Africa’s best safari country.
More than 4,000 reviews were analyzed in this detailed and comprehensive study. The analysis included reviews from expert travel journalists who have extensive safari experience across all of the countries covered by this survey."
SafariBookings adds: "This remarkable performance takes into account a whole range of categories, from wildlife and scenic beauty to birding and bush credentials. Uganda was also the clear winner when it comes to Africa’s best birding-safari country, as voted by the experts.
Uganda clearly has reason to be optimistic about future surveys, as they’re hot on the heels of the current top three. Watch this space..."

From a birder’s perspective, Uganda is good year-round, especially since the main birding interest lies in the resident birds. The climate is the main factor to take into consideration. Uganda is a very wet country. During the Wet seasons, roads and forest trails might be in poor condition and rains could interfere with birding time.

In general, the best time for bird watching is from late May through September, when there is less rain and food is abundant. The main nesting season in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks (key sites for the Albertine Rift endemics, which are birds restricted to the Albertine Rift) is May and June, but from mid-April to mid-May the rains might still be too heavy. February and early March is the only time Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve is relatively dry, but it is uncomfortably hot in the north, including in Murchison Falls National Park. December and January are also good months since the north is not yet too hot and there is less rain in the south. The best time for primate tracking and wildlife viewing in the savannah reserves is also in the Dry season, from June to August and December to February.
