The best time to visit Uganda is between its two dry seasons:  December to February and between June and August. These times are the best for trekking to see mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. Game viewing in Uganda's savannah parks is best at the end of the dry seasons:February and March and 
September/early October when wildlife is concentrated around water sources.

The Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve is a conservation area in the Karamoja subregion of northeastern Uganda. It is the second largest conservation protected area in Uganda. Pian Upe is home to enormous rock pythons and smaller but venomous puff adders. Harmless water snakes are also found there. The largest lizards in Pian Upe are the Savannah monitors. Others in the reserve include the common agama as well as skinks, chameleons and geckos.

Happy gorilla year 2021! The new year brings another gorilla baby Bwindi Impenetrable forest fold! On January 4th, Nkuringo family’s Adult Female Nderema gave birth to a new baby bringing the family size to 12 members. The new birth marks Nderema's second infant following her first birth in 2018 that saw her baby sadly not make it due to environmental extremes within its first 15 days of birth.

The experience of trekking the gentle giants “Mountain Gorillas” in Uganda is journey into the depths of the impenetrable gorilla jungle. This Experience is unpredictable since every excursion / Gorilla group creates its path. You could hike up or down the uneven terrain, cross rivers, walk through muddy paddles, and climb over fallen giant tree stamps, and it could go on for hours. Nonetheless, some things are certain; you must take a bucket-load of patience, a good sense of humor, and tolerance for harsh jungle eventualities. “A life-changing experience!” is what most tourists will say after visiting the mountain gorillas in Uganda. To find the gorillas’ nest, you must get up early and religiously follow the footsteps of a local tracker / Ranger Guide.
Below is a guideline of what you should pack for a gorilla trekking tour in Uganda

• A pair of trousers, a long-sleeved shirt (t-shirt), and longer socks

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half the world’s remaining population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Out of these, several families have become habituated to humans, allowing small groups of people to track them and spend an hour in their company. The gorillas remain wild and the interaction takes place under the careful eyes of highly trained trackers. As gorillas are susceptible to human disease, the health restrictions for visitors are stringent. Due to the rugged terrain, only those older than 15 years are allowed to track. A day of gorilla trekking begins early, departing from your lodge with the dawn. The guides will meet and brief groups of visitors at the gathering point before setting off. The walk can be challenging, especially during Uganda’s two rainy seasons, which are from March to May and then again in November and December. Depending on where the gorillas were last seen, the trek can take anywhere between 40 minutes to six hours spent making your way through the tranquil green undergrowth that covers the mountain slopes, with several quiet encounters with the other denizens of the park en route. When the gorillas emerge from the foliage, time stands still as you enjoy their company for an hour. There is something profoundly moving about being in the presence of these regal creatures.

Mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla Park can be tracked at any time of the Year, full tracking experiences are achieved when tourists visit during the dry season (June to September and December to February) tracking during these months is less hectic as there is an easy movement within the forest trails. However, the tracking conditions during the wet season (April, May and November) are not favourable when the tracking trails are muddy.
