This is an annual cultural event to mark another year for the reigning king on the throne. The Bunyoro’s current King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru was enthroned on June 11, 1994.

The 24th Coronation anniversary of Omukama Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, slated for June 11, 2018 and the celebration will be held at his Karuziika palace in Hoima town.

Empango is characterized by a number of cultural ceremonies among them a traditional dance- “Amakondere” which crowns off the day’s events.

During Empango, the King gives his annual address to the subjects and the Prime Minister gives the kingdom status report with a major update on the ongoing projects.

This year’s theme is, “Transforming Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.”

Bunyoro is made up of the districts of Hoima, Masindi, Kiryandongo, Buliisa, Kibaale, Kagadi and Kakumiro.
