Hiking at the Sipi falls, What to Expect The Sipi falls are located in Kapchorwa district, eastern Uganda about 277 km from Kampala. The falls are a series of waterfalls located in the foothills of Mount Elgon National park which borders Kenya. Once you are in the nearby Mbale district, you are able to see the Mount Elgon from a distance. The name ‘Sipi’ was got from ‘Sep’ which is a name of a common wild banana-like indigenous plant. Golden Monkey Trekking in Rwanda Found in the East and Central parts of Africa, the golden monkey is a rare species of the Old World monkey. This type of monkey species is currently endangered and can be seen in four national parks i.e. Mgahinga national park, Volcanoes Park, Virunga national park and Kahuzi-Biéga national park. The Golden monkey is easily recognized with a golden yellow patch on its body and lives in groups of upto 30 individuals. The monkey habitats normally have abundant fruit and bamboo or if not they will move searching for a new home where they can easily feed.

The Return of Giraffes To Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve The Nubian Giraffes have now returned to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve after 25 years of extinction. The move of the giraffes happened on 29th October 2019 with the first batch of five giraffes transferred from Uganda’s largest wildlife park – Murchison falls national park to Pian Upe. Over 1,550 adult giraffes are estimated to be living within the northern part of Murchison Falls National Park making it by far the largest population of Nubian giraffes.

The operation was supported by the Giraffe conservation foundation (GCF) together with Uganda Wildlife Authority and other partners. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation concentrates solely on the conservation and management of giraffes in the wild throughout Africa. Collaborative efforts to conserve giraffes in Uganda are guided by a Memorandum of understanding between UWA and GCF signed by both parties in 2014.
