Season's greetings from the newest member of the Busingye mountain gorilla group in Rushaga, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, born on 17th December 2022.

The mother and father are in perfect health and have been very protective of their new baby which is why its taken long for our field team to get a photo of the baby.

The mother's name is Kafugwe which translates to mean 'Stinging Nettle' (a plant that is predominant in the area where she gave birth).

This new birth brings the total tally of family members to 15. Join us in celebrating our latest addition to our Bwindi family

Bwindi landscapes showing two settlement patterns. From this picture you can see the tropical rainforest which is a home to the world's mountain gorillas 🦍🦍🦍🦍🦍🇺🇬 and the next stretch is a pattern of community fields as it stretches right from the forest boundary.

Usually mountain gorillas, chimps, monkeys and other forest residents do move beyond the forest boundary but within their territory which renders the wildlife and both the locals vulnerable to community conservation conflicts. Inside this community are reported cases of crop raids, vandalism, death and poaching on both residents of the villages as well as to the wildlife.

There is always need for a collaborative approach amongst stakeholders for effective wildlife conservation and livelihood support into these areas adjacent to conservation Forest. Hence need for responsible safaris, when you book a trip into a conservation area you directly support conservation. When you visit them, you conserve them. Therefore feel free to request a personalised itinerary in any of the wildlife encounters in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya and D.R.Congo with us now.
