When you visit a national park in Uganda, you’re contributing to the conservation of wildlife and the environment. 🌿
One of the latest developments in wildlife conservation is the translocation of 15 endangered giraffes. This project, run by The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is currently moving 10 female and 5 male Rothschild/Nubian giraffes from Murchison Falls National Park to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve to expand their range and increase their population.
We’re thrilled to say that the first 5 giraffes have already been successfully relocated! Get in touch to find out what conservation projects you could visit and how to ensure your safari has a positive impact on Ugandan wildlife.

Uganda Wildlife
Uganda is home to a tremendous amount of plants and animals, and it’s the reason many people come on safari here. Uganda is also one of the top destinations in the world to see primates, such as chimpanzees and golden monkeys. And it’s one of the only places in the world you can safely track mountain gorillas, an exhilarating experience.
Here you will also find the Big 5, including a very special visit to the rhino sanctuary, which is a fantastic conservation success story. And what about the big cats? Join researchers for a predator-tracking experience, where you can go off-track and take a deep dive into the life of these majestic feline creatures.
From zebras at Lake Mburo to crocodiles along the Nile, fascinating herps and nocturnals, to over 1000 bird species, including the much sought-after Shoebill, we recommend enjoying all the wildlife Uganda has to offer. Our expert guides can help you find them while sharing knowledge of the local wildlife, as you bask in the glorious sunshine observing Uganda’s extraordinary creatures.
Check out our latest blog post, where you will find an extensive list of animals you might see on safari.

Family Safari
What better way for children to learn about the natural world than to immerse themselves in nature on an extraordinary family adventure?
Give children the chance to learn about animals and their habitats on a family safari: observe mammals, birds, bugs and reptiles on game drives and boat cruises, safari walks and even by bicycle as you learn all about them from your expert guide. Learn how to track animals, including the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the importance of conservation.
Accommodation like Mihingo Lodge even offers fun-filled bush-craft activities for kids to get stuck into, interacting with the environment and learning about the animals in the bush. And, as if that is not enough, kids can also have fun kayaking and rafting and participating in cultural activities that provide an insight into daily life in Uganda.
Want to give your family an unforgettable experience? Then get in touch with us and find out Venture can help you organise a family holiday of a lifetime.

African Elephants
The largest of the big 5, the African elephant, is a magnificent creature that you don’t want to miss. 🐘
As the largest land animal on Earth, the African elephant is an extremely intelligent species, communicating over large distances through low frequencies that the human ear cannot detect.
Often living in herds of 6-30, these breathtaking creatures can join clans of up to 400 elephants. The females will stay with a herd their whole lives, while the male elephants wander off with other males when they reach 10 years old, before eventually living a life mostly in solitude.
African elephants are found in the open and wooded savannas of Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kidepo Valley National Park. Our professional tour guides will accompany you on your safaris to help you find these amazing mammals in their natural environments.

Wildlife Highlights
Venture is here to bring you all the highlights of Uganda, so here are some reasons we think you’ll love the Pearl of Africa.
Uganda is home to gorillas, chimpanzees and other primates, which can be seen as you trek through the lush forests, while lions, leopards and cheetahs can be spotted roaming the savannahs
Safaris are an incredible way to see animals, other than primates and cats, so nature lovers will enjoy seeing elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, zebras and a wide array of magnificent birds, so don’t forget your camera!
The vast landscapes are breathtaking, whether you’re looking out over the green rolling hills, or hiking a mountain range or wandering around the crater lakes. Uganda is brimming with rich culture too, so immerse yourself, by combining wildlife tours with authentic cultural and community experiences.
We can help you experience the true magic of Uganda by organising a trip that you’ll always remember. It’s not too late to book for the low season (March-May) or later in the year, so get in touch today and we’ll plan a visit like no other.

When you pay to enter one of Uganda’s national parks, you’re not only helping the wildlife but you’re benefiting the local community too.
People in the community sometimes poach antelopes with wire snares for their meat. This is so they can feed their families, but it also means that other animals can become trapped, such as elephants who can rip off their trunks as they try to escape.
Thanks to tourism activities, such as game drives, people’s incomes can be boosted through alternative livelihoods, so they no longer have to rely on poaching. This protects wildlife, helps communities look after their families, and provides visitors with an insight into the incredible scenery and wildlife that makes Uganda so special.
When you book a holiday with Venture Uganda, we can include visits to national parks in your itinerary, so you can support conservation while experiencing the majestic wildlife.

The odd noises Leopards make!
Ever heard Leopards mating? Now's your chance. Sound up!
Ever wondered what leopards sound like when they’re mating? Neither had we but it was one of the highlights of a recent lion tracking experience in Queen Elizabeth national park.
The morning provided fantastic leopard viewing as we watched both lion and leopard climbing trees, snoozing, walking, playing with small prey, scent marking and, yes, mating (no visuals).
We had great access with plenty of time for photos as they didn’t seem remotely bothered by our presence. We learnt so much from the researcher on tour with us.
Definitely one to include in your Venture Uganda Travel safari.
Why not include a visit to the Uganda museum in your holiday itinerary? There is so much of interest including:
👉🏻 fascinating cultural items
👉🏻 artefacts from the Arab & Swahili Caravan trade
👉🏻 ancient human and animal remains
👉🏻 former Presidential cars & gardens full of traditional architecture from Uganda’s different regions.
There are also special exhibitions like Uganda’s participation at the Olympics over the years.
Taking a guide is essential as their stories will bring exhibits to life. Like Alice, below, playing the drums which send messages from hilltop to hilltop. And if you feel the urge to dance, feel free. This is Uganda, after all.
Crop planting in Uganda
This week we are running a virtual field course in humanitarian studies for university students. It’s been a real mix of documentary-style films we have made earlier and live, interactive sessions with a variety of people in and around a refugee settlement from government representatives, to implementing partners and community members.
Our virtual field courses are such a great opportunity for students to have this level of access and to make connections. In Uganda, refugees are given land on which to build simple houses and grow food.
Our drive-by video below shows how the planting season is evolving now the rains have begun. If you would like to discuss our educational visits, at school or university level, please message us.
Here is a show loved by tourists and locals alike.
The Ndere Dance Troupe play traditional music and perform traditional dances from the various tribes around Uganda and even some of the neighbouring countries.
This clip is of the Burundian Drummers and we think it's pretty impressive. This just one of the many cultural activities available in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala.
Fire Dancer
Today, the Venture Uganda Travel team was enjoying a travel memory of the wonderful Thibault Gignon.
One night around the campfire in Murchison Falls national park he noticed some chains next to the fire and gave us this amazing performance. It just goes to show that you never know what skills your colleagues have.
