Friends, if you are traveling with your furry family member and would love a pup friendly place to stay, The Oasis Abingdon is ready! With many dog amenities, a partially fenced half-actre of lawn and gardens. On a hilltop, in-town neighborhood street with dead end, it's perfect for walking your fur baby and letting them get their yayas out!

Most people don't know The Oasis Abingdon,an in-town Airbnb just 1 mile from the Barter Theatre and The Virginia Creeper Trail, even exists. For guests like Bill from Fletcher, NC, not only did it exist, they rated it 5*!

"Janice's place is even more beautiful than the pictures, and we enjoyed a much-needed lovely decompression time with our friends.
Two really nice sized ensuites in a split plan, which was perfect for 2 couples here to ride the Creeper Trail.
Living area is comfy and cozy and spacious and bright in a very private setting with serene views.
High end finishes and artwork and bedding and towels - even high-end bathroom products like crafted soaps and Bumble & Bumble hair products!
I could go on and on about all of the special touches that kept surprising us. Janice is a class act and her attention to detail is remarkable. We felt so welcomed.
If you are considering this place for a getaway, book it now. I'm serious. You'll be so glad you did."

Calling all walkers, riders, and train buffs!

Come stay The Oasis Abingdon and the_nest_abingdon and explore the history and beauty of the Creeper Trail!

We suggest visiting the Abingdon Historical Society and learn more about the Creeper's history.

Then, walk from there over to Arts Depot an old train freight station now filled with art and artists!

Just outside the east end of the Arts Depot is an old caboose. And, beyond that, the old passenger trail station! Then walk out and onto the Urban Pathway and over to either the Muster Grounds or, the opposite direction to the Farmer's Market and beyond to the Creeper Trail itself!

Did you know? The Norfolk & Western Railway’s Abingdon Branch began in 1887 as the Abingdon Coal and Iron Railroad (AC&IRR). The Virginia-Carolina Railroad (VCRR) bought the AC&IRR in 1900, and extended rail service to Damascus. By 1915, VCRR trains ran over the 76.5 miles of track between Abingdon and Elkland, North Carolina.

The popular nickname, “Virginia Creeper” fittingly describes both the steep twisting mountain route and the speed of the trains. In some places, the posted speed was only 5 MPH.

Check out this historic marker and you begin your ride or walk along the Virginia Creeper Trail!

When visiting our amazing mountain town, we suggest planning time to try Tumbling Creek Cider's wide variety of ciders. These are not the sweet cider typically found in grocery stores, although they have those too. Some of our favorites are:
High Trestle Cherry, with a hint of cherry in the background of what we would call a drier cider but a hint of sweet.
Ridgerunner Dry, this cider is dry as the name denotes, and there's so much flavor you won't miss the sweet.
Best approach to exploring their options? Order a tasting mix and you choose or have them recommend options!

We also love TCC's creative reuse of a bank drive through! Now enclosed and heated for the cooler season, they are a year round favorite for people watching, trying their newest explorations, and watching live music-check their page for schedule.
