**WE ARE SELLING OUR AIRBNB TINY HOME & LAND!**
After much thought and consideration, we have come to the difficult decision to sell our cherished piece of land in Abiquiu, NM, along with our beloved Airbnb park model tiny home, Copper Canyon Casita.

The land and home were purchased with the intention of nurturing family dreams and creating an income Airbnb property. Becca has been running the Airbnb business since March of last year and it has been a success from the beginning. The potential for rental income (short-term and long-term) has been proven. However, due to a separate unexpected financial situation, we find ourselves in a position where parting ways with this special place is necessary. While this decision is not easy, we are hopeful that it will bring the same joy and fulfillment to its new owners as it has brought to us. It is truly a special opportunity.

We know a lot of you and your families through our decades of Abiquiu/Ghost Ranch connections so we wanted to cast the net out to our circle of people first before we formally list it. Abiquiu’s housing market and cost of building has certainly gone up, making the dream of owning property here out of reach for a lot of people. This property is an exception. Rarely will you ever find something as unique and special like this in this price range, whether you’re looking to provide permanent or vacation housing, an artist’s retreat, or rental income.

We have created a website with all of the pertinent information about the property/home details and terms of sale. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the particulars involved in purchasing the land and tiny home, please visit our website link: https://cccfsbo.my.canva.site

We want to express our gratitude for your support and love throughout this epic journey. Your understanding and encouragement mean the world. Thank you for being a part of our lives and sharing in our adventures!

Much love from the Burkhart/Fisher family!

Did you know that Copper Canyon Casita sits along The Old Spanish Trail and Abiquiú was a prominent jumping off point?
In recent geologic history, the Chama River cut a canyon through the large cliff fault at the edge of the Colorado Plateau and provided a never-ending supply of water to animals and people. It was a natural access point back and forth from the high country of the plateau to the Rio Grande River and was used as a gateway to the land north and west, including Chaco Canyon and the Hopi Mesas. This eventual path, now known as The Old Spanish Trail, was first explored in 1776 by the Dominguez-Escalante Expedition, looking for a way from Santa Fe to Monterey, CA. The Domínguez–Escalante expedition was a Spanish journey of exploration conducted by two Franciscan priests, Atanasio Domínguez and Silvestre Vélez de Escalante, to find an overland route from Santa Fe, NM, to their Roman Catholic mission in Monterey, CA. The expedition left for the wilderness after departing the Pueblo of Abiquiú, heading west through the Chama River Canyon. This ‘jumping off point’ was later used for trade in the 1830’s by mule, foot, and horses, terminating at Olivera Street in Los Angeles, CA.
FUN FACT: Abiquiú-born Julián Antonio Chávez is the namesake of Chavez Ravine, next to what is now Dodger’s Stadium. He immigrated from Abiquiú to Los Angeles on the OST where he settled land in the ravine and became a Los Angeles public official in the 19th century.

Along the 13 mile stretch between Copper Canyon Canyon Casita & Ghost Ranch, you’ll find diverse geologic formations with abundant colors. Traveling from the lush Chama River Valley up to the wild lands of the Colorado Plateau, the landscape gives way to majestic red rock formations that have made their way into many movies and tv shows over the years. This drive will leave you breathless every time.

Plaza Blanca | Abiquiu
22 million-year-old white sandstone of the Abiquiu Formation, composed of ashy fine sand and smaller river deposit conglomerate. A hike in this area will produce a moon-like landscape of white sandstone pillars and canyons. Artist Georgia O'Keeffe drew inspiration from her visits. She loved the forms this rock created and painted there often. Plaza Blanca is located on the grounds of Dar al Islam mosque and education center. Gate code required. Plaza Blanca is both monumental and fragile. If you are fortunate enough to visit, please be gentle and follow ‘Leave No Trace’ principles.

Copper Canyon Casita sits near the junction of two amazing geologic zones, the Rio Grande Rift — a long, narrow dropped down section of the earth that runs from the Gulf of Mexico to central Colorado, and the Colorado Plateau — a 600-million-year-old, relatively stable, large, uplifted horizontal structure of rocks that covers the Four Corners region. This area marks the boundary between these two geologic zones. Another important geologic feature that lends to the beautiful landscape of Abiquiú is the Jemez mountain volcanic region. These rocks speak to primordial times when volcanoes exploded and giant rivers ran wild as the land stretched, pulled, rose, and fell to create the stunning views you see around you. The landscapes also tell the stories of the ancient people who came to this land for its resources and beauty. Read more about the geology of Abiquiú in our welcome book when you stay with us.
