We’ve had some great guests recently. So fun meeting people from all over the world.
The heat has been high but our AC is working great and having it on solar makes it all the better!
We put the veggie garden recently and the drip system is on and working beautifully. Hooray.
Put up the shade for summer. Yay! Morning coffee on the picnic table during a glorious spring day looking out to the Santa Fe mountains with a little snow left.
Be sure to visit the Plaza Blanca hiking and exploration area on the grounds of the Dar al Islam Mosque. Only an 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from Casita de Chuparosa Vacation Home.
The light is hitting the hills across the valley to the southwest in such a way that the contours stand out. Love that. P.S. We got hail yesterday!
We’ve had some wonderful guests recently. So happy we decided to open the Casita back up for travelers.
In the distance still a bit of snow on the mountains above Santa Fe. Last years fruit trees made it through their first winter! Yay

The calendar on Airbnb is up and open. We have already had a few reservations made. All are people who have been here before and are returning. Let the fun begin! If you have any questions please do message us. We are looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing this fabulous spot.
Chuparosa Cottage
Finally, we have finished all the updates on the Casita. Whew, that took a while!
One thing we did which took quite some time was fix the floors. It was very creaky for those who remember. Turns out the boards were atop two by fours with large spaces between so that over the years when you stepped down the boards make a very loud racket. Yes, it had character but bit too much for us.
We were looking at new flooring but none had the wonderful look of the old ones. So, we decided to simply reuse the old floors rather than getting new ones. It fits our wish to reuse as much as possible, it saved money, and it worked! The positive character remains and no more creaks. The cork underlayment makes them lovely to walk on as well.
Another change is that we put a very comfy murphy bed in the second room. If you don't need it as a bedroom it allows the space to be used for a study or a place to do yoga/ exercise, now that the bed can be put out of the way.
I think you will be pleased with many of the upgrades we did.
One thing that has not changed is the view. Still utterly spectacular.
I am in the process of getting all the permits in order and once that is done, (quickly I hope) we will open the calendar. We are so looking forward to meeting old and new guests.
I was going to wait until we were completely ready but I couldn't wait to tell you how close we are. Check back soon and make some plans to come visit Abiquiu.

Hi all, It's been a while. Hope everyone has weathered the recent storms ,of all kinds. And, that you have found some inspiration in whatever it is you are doing.
We are here to say that we will be re-opening the Casita in the spring. We will be renting it as a one bedroom although there is a second if anyone needs it. We can talk about it. Right now we are using it for extra books, paintings, etc...
I'll let you know when we put the calendar up. Have to re-up the permits to do so first!
For those who have stayed here, we are keeping the fireplace room open.
I know this is a long way ahead but I figured it would whet your appetite for this little gem.
Oh, and we are hoping to rent it for one or two week stays. It cuts down on cleaning and we are still being Covid aware. Less is more. But we will see how that goes.
I'll be posting photos of the surrounding area and views over the winter just to remind you of what you love about here. Or, what you will love when you come meet this land of enchantment.
