Artist Recovery is a DFW collective of people celebrating self-expression alongside sobriety. You do not need to be an artist.
(9)
We meet on the first Friday of the month from 7:30PM-10:00PM at 4950 Keller Springs Rd, #180 Addison, TX 75001. Artist Recovery is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience strength and hope with each other, to help others, and share their common desire for recovery. The only requirement for membership is a genuine appreciation for life in recovery. Rather,, we view our own recovery
as the art. Our lives are the canvas on which we create our own mosaics that display the beauty of recovery. The purpose of Artist Recovery meetings is to celebrate recovery through the sharing of our stories and creative expression. There are no dues or fees; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. Artist Recovery is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, or religion; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. We practice the 12 Steps in our personal lives, but we are not allied with any particular 12-Step program. Rather, we welcome members of any and all 12-Step programs.

“Shadow work.” One of the things that makes the 12 Step program so effective is the fact that it’s all shadow work. In other words, each of the steps does a good job of making us turn around and keep the focus on ourselves rather focusing on what’s wrong with everybody else. (The song is “Open Your Eyes (What’s Goin On)” from my recovery musical The Journey https://youtu.be/MEMt-0IDKnY?si=czFIO-kF6UUZFC25)
"Mama Fear" A song about fear and all the trouble that can cause in our lives. Watch full video: https://youtu.be/nDCpI1p3-1s #jimsavagerecovery #recoveringmusician #RecoveryThroughMusic
Straight out of the Big Book—a new song about fear. See full video on YouTube https://youtu.be/lOXm3h4npI0?si=PVt79VdswydFXSew
In the Native American tradition Coyote is the Trickster. There are many valuable—and sometimes tricky—lessons to be had from working with “Coyote medicine.” Some of the seemingly “worst thing that could have happened to me” often turn out to be the best thing That could’ve ever happened. (like “having” to get sober)It’s all in how we look at it and being able to recognize all of our experiences as opportunities to learn something about ourselves.
The Recovery Wheel had been the basis of all my work in addiction treatment for over thirty years. It had helped thousands of clients—not just get “dry”—but achieve the kind of recovery that makes them feel good about themselves and inspired to continue growing. I’ve FINALLY made this available to more people than just my own clients by putting this material into an awesome new mini-course, which includes: • 2 hours of videos, • 40 page eBook, • audiobook version of the eBook. New year. New website. And lots of cool new resources for a whole new approach to addiction recovery support. Meditation, music, spirituality, all sorts of stuff designed to make recovery an awesome experience. Link in bio. #recoverywarrior #spiritualjourney #addictionrecovery
Struggling with sobriety? It’s understandable that a lot of folks who are getting “strongly encourage” to get sober arent happy about it. You’re giving up something that makes you feel really good, not to mention all the fun that goes along with it. But as the title of my new book says, it doesn’t have to suck. As a matter of fact, it can actually turn out to be an awesome experience. Grab your copy of my FREE EBOOK to find out how you can go from “This sucks!” to “This is awesome” jimsavage.net/sobrietyebook #recoveryispossible💪 #addictionrecovery #newyearnewyou #jimsavagerecovery

A talk I did last week called Follow Your Bliss: Finding Your Purpose In Life. I rolled out a fairytale that provided a pretty interesting metaphor for listening to our heart, finding our calling, and sticking with it to follow our vision. Hear the talk on my YouTube channel Jim Savage Recovery https://www.youtube.com/live/vLlae0ii9b8?si=vaqgi6GVb104kMt8
So I did this today. I gave a talk called “Follow Your Bliss: Finding Your Purpose In Life”. Drawing on Joseph Campbell’s work with the Hero’s Journey, I put on my storytelling hat and rolled out a fairytale to use as a metaphor for finding our calling and following a vision. Find the talk on my YouTube channel Jim Savage Recovery under the live Wednesday Woo! talks. #followyourbliss #herosjourney #josephcampbell #addictionrecovery #jimsavagerecovery
