“Shadow work.” One of the things that makes the 12 Step program so effective is the fact that it’s all shadow work. In other words, each of the steps does a good job of making us turn around and keep the focus on ourselves rather focusing on what’s wrong with everybody else. In the Native American tradition Coyote is the Trickster. There are many valuable—and sometimes tricky—lessons to be had from working with “Coyote medicine.” Some of the seemingly “worst thing that could have happened to me” often turn out to be the best thing That could’ve ever happened.
