The North Loop Trail in Forbes State Forest is a 4.5-mile loop following the remains of logging railroad grades and old skid trails.

Located within a system of trails in the Roaring Run Natural Area, hikers can enjoy the solitude as they explore the wooded mountainside.

The Abel Colley Tavern Museum is open tomorrow 11:30 to 3:30!

If you visit Fort Necessity National Battlefield or Touchstone Center for Crafts later in the day, you could head west on Route 40 toward Uniontown to dine at The Hopwood House. Their chef is absolutely 5-star!!! Reservations recommended. It is 25 to 30 minutes west of Fernwalk, just off 40.

3 miles down the road...

YOUGH LAKE MARINA was pictured like this very recently. The U.S. 40 Bridge spans the Youghiogheny River Lake. North of that was the Borough of Somerfield, Pennsylvania—now rendered obsolete underwater. 🛥️

How are you staying cool this summer?

On hot summer days and evenings, the Kaufmanns took advantage of the natural air conditioning that results from Frank Lloyd Wright's innovative hatch design.

When the hatch windows are open, and windows or doors upstairs are open, cool air is drawn from the Bear Run stream to the Living Room.

The hatch is just one example of how Frank Lloyd Wright designed the house to work in tandem with its natural surroundings.
