We're Hiring!

The North Central Development Center is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Economic Development assistant. The candidate will be responsible for assisting with and planning, directing, and coordinating economic development activities, including but not limited to business retention and expansion, workforce development, housing, community planning and grant writing. The assistant will also provide support to existing businesses and industries, work with and maintain relationships with regional partners, and work to increase the area's tax base. The part time assistant must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, clients, and customers
Assist in the development and implementation of economic development strategies, programs, and initiatives
Prepare and deliver presentations to various groups and organizations
Write and edit marketing and promotional materials
Plan and coordinate special events
Prepare grant applications and manage grant-funded projects
Serve as a liaison between the community and government agencies
Maintain accurate records and databases
Perform administrative tasks as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, or related field
3-5 years professional experience in economic development or related field
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to develop and deliver presentations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

NCDC Awarded Rural Workforce Housing Grant

The North Central Development Center was one of the organizations awarded, with the NCDC receiving $327,000 in Rural Workforce Housing Funds by providing$163,500 in matching funds for a total of $490,500 to go toward housing construction and rehabilitation.

“We are excited to be partnering with private businesses and our area foundations to construct homes in Brown, Rock and Keya Paha counties,” NCDC Executive Director Kristin Olson said. “Once we receive the contract, we will be looking for applications for interim construction financing to support those interested in building housing. Thanks to all the generous donors who provided matching funds for this project in a short period of time.”

Sign-Up Now For Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
The Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce and the Ainsworth Public Library are currently signing up children under the age of five for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Forms are available at the Chamber office at 349 North Main Street or at the Public Library at 445 North Main Street. Please call the Chamber (402-382-3537) or the Library (402-387-2032) if you have any questions.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60 volume set of books beginning with the children’s classic “The Little Engine That Could”. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. Best of all it is a free gift! There is no cost or obligation to your family as the Chamber of Commerce, the Public Library, and the Imagination Library are handling all the costs for this program.
All children under the age of five who are a resident of Brown County are eligible. An official registration form, completely filled out by the authorized adult, must be submitted. Please notify the Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce any time your address changes in order to continue receiving books. Books will continue to arrive until your child turns five or you move out of the covered area. You will receive your book eight to ten weeks after your registration form has been received.
