I was just sorta dozing in bed this morning thinking that very soon my mornings will be starting way before the sun rises. I was also thinking of how much I love Sri Lanka and India. We get folks that do one trip or the other and folks that do both together. We often see Leopards on every game drive in Botswana, however those Leopards in Sri Lanka are so addicting. Of course the tigers are one of the most majestic animals I can think of to see in the wild.

In all the beauty of the wild places, it's easy to just get lost in deep thought and lose track of the ups and downs of life. Maybe it's the warm light, maybe the expression of the colors, tones, and movement. Or maybe it's just the beauty of freedom.
Not sure I can put an exact reason for such a wonderful thing as the distraction that takes you to some of the most wonderful feelings out there. I do know that this is a special kind of blessing, a place of pure happiness, a place where the everything is just perfect, if even for a short while. I suppose the trick is to realize it, to never take it for granted, to take a moment to look to the heavens above and say Thank you Lord, I am blessed with this gift you have shared with me.

Indeed there are so many professions in our world, so many ways to make a living. There are those who save lives, those who make a living on another's misery, those who make sure you get food, those who share the word of God and living with great morals and values. When I think of my current line of work, I feel so blessed that it can be so positive. Have you ever really dove deep into your profession and how it impacts others. What is your part in the world? It is such an interesting thought. May I be forgiven if I ever took advantage of any gift of ability that I was given and did not use it to be a positive influence in the world.

There are so many different species in the Pantanal. One of my favorite is the Brazilian Tapir. They can be very shy. We had a few nice sightings this year.

In my upcoming class for the Imaging convention, I will speak on the expressions of wildlife in the morning and I will get to some of the basics of exposures, and other camera settings, along with other things in my wildlife photography toolbox. It's not easy to take the minds ideas of expression and try to present that to other photographers, however I have a very specific impression of how it's all interpreted. It is all so fascinating.

As a wonderer of nature, I am often blessed with the beauty that can go beyond imagination. Of course the Toco Toucan is one of those head turning, mind blowing bits of creation that can push believers in God into the there is no doubt area. I suppose this is one of the reasons I prefer to spend my life in the outdoors. I have no doubt that as long as I have a way, I have the health, I have the freedom, I will be one who continues to pursue the wonders, the inspiration, the very gut grabbing and soul southing inspirations of the wild places.
Of course I will never see each and every amazing and beautiful creation that has blessed this earth. However I am going to take a step back, take a deep and thoughtful breath. I will make sure that each and every wild gift I am given, even if it's just for brief moments, will not go unnoticed, unappreciated, and never taken for granted.

What a treat we had with this beauty. You may have noticed that I am using some different gear on this trip. I had my Canon R3 and my Canon 200-800 and my Canon 1dxmk3 with my Sigma 60-600. I hate changing lenses when I am out in the wilds. I find it very distracting and it interferes with my flow. So I just use the camera with the lens I want at the time.
I am very confused between the Canon R1 and the Canon R5mk2. I have an R1 on order, however that comes out in November. So I am reading a lot about both cameras so I can make my final decision. I'll replace my Canon 1dxmk3 with one of them. I am really hoping that Sigma will release the 60-600 with the R mount this year.

This was are best year in the Pantanal. We have had some amazing sightings throughout the years however over the years I feel we really have put together a lot of experience, the best guides, and a lot of wildlife knowledge. Every year in every location we learn more and more about the wildlife, the habitat, and the best times and locations to get great sightings. We put together our knowledge as certified wildlife guides, we do our best to guess the movements and to read the animals behavior. I am really excited about next year as we saw Jaguars mating so cubs are almost for sure. What an incredible experience it is to be with such amazing wildlife.

Here are a few images from our recent Jaguar tour in the Pantanal. We had four hunts, three which were successful. This one was the most exciting. This was when the Jaguar swam under water for quite a distance, popped up and got the Caiman. I have seen many hunts in my time, but this was the first time I have seen a Jaguar pursue its dinner by approaching under water. Come with us next year, this is one amazing adventure.

There are lots of different species of Parakeets in the Pantanal. I love how they fly in flocks and call to one another. So very beautiful.

A beautiful boy just before he went for a Caiman. This was the male Jaguar that actually swam underwater for several meters to get to a Caiman. One of the most amazing things I have seen in Nature.

Although we do concentrate a lot on the Jaguars in the Pantanal, I so enjoy the other species. This trio of a Cattle Tyrant, a Caiman, and a Capybara really bring the wonderful world of nature to light. I am always fascinate with how different species work together.

The beautiful Great Egret. The bird life in the Pantanal is amazing. Here I have used my New Canon 200-800 lens. My Sigma 60-600 is still my favored lens, however I am really enjoying the extra reach on the 200-800.

We had basically non stop Jaguar sightings this year. It was amazing. We also located two different mating Jaguars. So we should have cubs next year. This one is so beautiful.
