Itβs ok if you fall apart sometimes. Sβmores fall a part, and we still love them.
Mostly.
Please sir, can I have sβmore? If a marshmallow holds it all together (we said it), itβs important to do it right. Here are some quick tips to achieve marshmallow perfection:
π₯ For the light golden-brown color and a perfectly cooked interior, you want to find the subtle flames at the base of the fire and be patient. As you can see in the graphic, weβre not doing this.
π₯ Frequently turn the marshmallow as it hovers over the embers rather than the flames. As you can see in the graphic, yeah, not yet.
π₯ While putting a marshmallow over the flames will surely result in what appears to be an extremely fast method to cooking marshmallows (wow, that really caught fire), the quick exposure to intense heat will simply char the outside, leaving the inside still tough and cool (But we all want to be tough and cool, right?) As you can see in the graphic, well, you know.
π₯ When it develops a light brown coating on all sides and appears to be slightly sliding off the stick, quickly transfer it to your prepped sβmore base and enjoy!
π₯ Caution. You may be tempted to swing your roasting skewer back and forth at a rapid pace. This may cause your marshmallow to launch unexpectedly, in which it may land on an unsuspecting tree, your car windshield, or a former friends forehead. We repeat, do not launch marshmallows, unless youβre in the car, they are uncooked, and someone was asking for it.
Summary: The best method to prepare a marshmallow, is to be patient and avoid the red-hot flames at the top. (Good general life tip.)
P.S. OMG thereβs more? S'mores on a cool summer night are the best, but be sure to follow proper campfire procedures when tending to and putting out your fires. Always drown, stir, feel, and repeat until the area is cool to the touch.
