🦉Meet the Great Horned Owl. It's roughly around 18-25" long.

It has overbearing ear tufts that are responsible for its "horned" appearance.

Its large stature and white throat, or "bib," separate the Great Horned Owl from others.

It is Alaska's only large owl with ear tufts.

The backside of this type of owl has various shades of brown and gray, spotted with white and buff while the underside is white, barred with dark brown or black, and tinted with buff.

On the other hand, the facial disk is reddish, and the eyes are a deep yellow. In-flight, these owls are recognized by their large heads, very short necks, and whitethroats.

⛪St. John's Cathedral is also known as St. John the Divine.

The Cathedral Church of the Diocese of North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba is an Anglican church nestled on a hilltop in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda.

The cathedral, with its stunning twin towers, was constructed on a fossilized reef in 1845 and is currently in its third incarnation, as earthquakes in 1683 and 1745 ruined the old structures.

The iron gates found on the south facade of the church are bound by pillars showcasing leading Biblical figures of St. John the Divine and St. John the Baptist.

Turners Beach is located just a few miles from Darkwood Beach.

The beach is another tranquil white sand uninhabited beach just waiting for you.

It's popularly known as "Waladii" or "Wadadii" by most of the locals.

The island is part of the country of Antigua & Barbuda.

With about 68 square miles, Barbuda is a coral island just 30 miles north of Antigua.

In the Eastern Caribbean, sitting in the middle of the Leeward Islands, where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet is Antigua.

The highest point in Antigua is Mount Obama.
The name was changed in 2009 to give honor to former US President Barack Obama.

Some of the island's famous residents include Oprah Winfrey, Jamaica Kincaid, Giorgio Armani, Richard Branson, and Eric Clapton.

🗿Have you seen a Totem pole?🗿

Totem poles are a cultural part of many indigenous people of Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and British Columbia.

Totem poles are sculptures carved typically from Western Red Cedar or other large trees.

The figures on the poles are not like gods to be worshiped.

The totem poles represent the traits and characteristics of each clan or story personified.

The figures found on these poles include the raven (a symbol of the Creator), the killer whale (a symbol of strength), the eagle (representing peace and friendship), the Thunderbird, the bear, the wolf, the beaver, and the frog.

It's interesting to note that totem poles are still created today, even though it's been part of history for many decades.

🚢The Antigua cruise ship dock is your first stop when you're aboard a cruise ship on the Caribbean, and Antigua happens to be in the itinerary.

The pier is located at Heritage and Redcliffe Quay, in the capital of St. John's.

Fun facts about Iditarod:

1. SLED DOGS NEED 10-12,000 CALORIES A DAY.

And these canines need to keep eating.

Along the trail, they are given frozen snacks to eat on like chunks of meat, fish, or wet dog food.

2. THE DOGS WEAR BOOTIES.

Dog fur and an able circulatory system keep them warm, but their footpads need protection from the ice, snow, and rocky terrain.

3. SLED DOGS HAVE TO STUDY THEIR VOCABULARY.

It’s a must in sled dog training to teach them a set of basic commands.

🍽️Experiencing a variety of Caribbean flavors is an excellent way to get acquainted with the history of the place.

Through various culinary elements, every meal is a multicultural experience.

It all works together to create delicious dishes that include features introduced by colonizers.

The Caribs and Arawaks add hot and mild chilies, allspice, roucou, and West-Indian bay leaves to smoked meat.

They were the ones who trained the newcomers to this technique, which eventually earned them the name, Buccaneers.

Europeans added thyme, pepper, and mustard.
They planted Asian spices like cassia, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger.

Africans added broadleaf thyme, which is today known as West-Indian thyme.

Imagine the sumptuous possibilities with all these ingredients and spices added into the dishes.
