The goal of the Iowa State University MCA Student Chapter is to develop and support and interest in specialty of mechanical construction.

Please join us this Wednesday in Town 250 for our general meeting. We will be joined by ARCO who will talk about opportunities in design building as well as the many other parts of their company.

Now that our competition team is getting ready to head to the Maui convention, I thought we could look back on the Great Futures Forum in September. We sent a group of four to Washington D.C. where they got to go to some amazing museums and talk to many industry professionals.
In March we will be sending a group of four down to Maui to participate in the MCAA Anual Convention. Our competition placed 15th so we will not be presenting.
A few of our members recently had the amazing opportunity to go to the 2019 MCAA Great Futures Forum in California! They had a great time networking with companies from across the nation! And of course there was some time to enjoy the great west coast weather!

The student chapter here at Iowa State has been getting off to a great start this semester. There are a few great opportunities coming up in the next week! Tonight at 5pm, MMC is hosting a social at Raspberry Hill Bed and Breakfast. It will be a fun night of networking and co****le! This Thursday (2/21) we are hosting the MEP Industry Social in Howe Hall at 6pm. Many MEP contractors will be attending and it will be a great networking opportunity! Following that, next Tuesday (2/26) Baker Group out of Ankeny, IA will be presenting for our monthly general meeting. Jethro's will be provided as always! We hope to see you at these events!

Thank you to all of you who made it out to our annual golf outing this year at TCI! Congratulations to Ron Engelhardt with Trane, Bryce Richards a student, Chad Spyksma with The Waldinger Corporation, and Nate Hagberg also with the Waldinger Corporation! It was a great day to be out on the course. We appreciate everything everyone has done in order to make this a successful outing!

No one was more surprised about receiving the award then the cabinet members themselves.
Iowa State MCA Student Chapter received the Student Chapter of the Year Award along with the Educator of the Year Award while attending the MCAA 2018 Convention. This is the first time Iowa State has receive both awards in the last 20 years. Before coming to the convention we also found out that were received 8th in the 2017-2018 student competition, this is the highest that we have receive in the last decade.

MCA will be having a joint general meeting with NECA on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30pm in Town 206. Our presenters will be from PKMR Engineers. They will be discussing MEP Engineering and Commissioning. We will also be talking about the MCA Student Competition and other future events.
Come hungry because there will be FREE Buffalo Wild Wings!

We had a great time playing paintball with the National Home Builders Association and Design Build Institute of America to wrap up dead weak. Hopes everyone had a good semester and can't wait to see what the spring semester will bring.
We had a blast in Denver at the MCAA Student Summit! A big thank you to everyone who made this possible for us. We had a great time talking to other schools, and learning about the MCA Student competition for this upcoming year. It was really cool to see all the new technology that is being developed.

Welcome back, I hope you all had a great summer. Just a heads up the 2016 CCEE Fall Picnic is on September 8. The picnic will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on the North Lawn of Town Engineering. There will be student organizations, food, and much much more. We look forward to seeing you there.
