Every year the crew of the Island Whaler
remove debris from our Salish Sea.
We try hard to keep our waters and its creatures clean and safe.

Our Marine Naturalist, Dawn Glavick, keeps a photographic record of the marine litter that we scoop up out of the sea during the season.

Waterborne plastic poses a serious threat to fish, seabirds, marine reptiles, and marine mammals, as well as to boats.

As we enter our last month of our tour year, here’s a sampling of the junk and hazards we have removed from our beloved waters of the Salish Sea.
