Anchorage sure knows how to ring in winter! We hated having to cancel our tours today, but there have been far too many accidents as folks get their proverbial “snow legs” during this first big storm. 🤞Fingers crossed🤞things will be settled down for our tours later this week.

I'm awful at this social media thing. I won't promise to get better.

BUT, I wanted to let all of our fans and future guests know that regardless of how much our costs are going up this next year, I do promise that we are not planning on raises our prices in 2025.
I love what I do, and while making money is part of it, its the smallest reason why I do this. I'm realizing as I grow my business that I make a lot of decisions that other owners find crazy, but I've never run a business before this one and I can only treat my guests the same way I would want to be treated. I want folks to feel like they have a friend in Alaska, and I want them itching to return so I can take them on a new adventure!

Probably anticipate more of these crazy ideas in the future, especially as I inject more of myself into the tours and the company as a whole.

The are blooming!
Not only do these flowers naturally beautify the road side, they also serve a purpose! Lupines are a legume (though we don’t recommend eating them as this variety is poisonous), and help fix nitrogen levels in the soil. They are excellent pollinators and these Nootka Lupine are hardy perennials that come back every year.
It’s a gift that keeps on giving!

Four babies!!! I repeat FOUR BABIES!!!! We got so lucky to see all four this morning and we’ve got another tour going out to the farm at 2 pm tomorrow (Friday, May 31st) if you haven’t gotten to see these precious calves.

🥚🥚OXtra OXtra! MUSKTASTIC News! 🥚🥚 Introducing Sunny (sunny side up), our hatchling #4. This little girl decided to make her debut Friday afternoon, making a busy tour day even more OXciting.

Osprey is a great first-time-mom! Just like dad Larch, Sunny has a white face and likes to express herself vocally.

Its International Women's Day, so we thought today would be a good day to make sure our followers know what we're about.
Escaping Anchorage is an LGBTQ+ and woman owned and operated business, and proud of it! We've hesitated to be upfront about this, considering the current state of events in our country, but we decided that it matters more that the right people feel comfortable with us, than the wrong people getting uncomfortable because of this information. This gentleman was one of the first folks to book a tour with us and the travel date was for several months after the booking date, so we knew we had to make it through our first few months so we could fulfill this trip. In the beginning, we barely felt comfortable planning a few weeks ahead, now we're already scheduling for 2025! Full steam ahead! Well… sort of. You see, this is typically the worst 6 weeks in Alaska. We call it "breakup season". Everything is melting, the temperature can't make up its mind whether its still Winter or Summer and there is a lot of unpredictability. Most companies don't operate during this time frame, and we thought about closing down for a bit to prepare for the summer season, but we figured if you've found yourself in "The Last Frontier" during these weeks you deserved a chance to get out of Anchorage.

We cannot guarantee the most pristine landscapes. There will be dirt. There will be mud. There will be dirty, muddy, melting snow. But we can guarantee a good time! Grab your rubber boots! Your Tour Guide to the Wild Side has you covered with a comfortable ride (that won't charge you a cleaning fee) and tales of this beautiful place we call our home. Even at its worst, the drive down the Turnagain Arm provides some of the most breathtaking views in the Anchorage area.
