Finally my 1st full hike of this season! I took a chance and managed to squeeze this hike to Near Point early this morning. It’s the lowest and closest mountain to Anchorage and as it is south facing, it’s lost most of its ice. However from Anchorage it still looked like a lot of ice hadn’t yet melted, and I was mentally prepared to turn around at some point if the snow was deep and impassable. Fortunately I got through the snow patches and had an amazing day! I will be climbing the mountains in the background later this season so please stay tuned!

A spectacular day out hiking on the Turnagain Arm trail. Still too much snow to be able to hike to the top. The mountain you see behind me is on this year’s bucket list. Not sure what it’s called but it’s calling me ☺️🌿

Hiking season is starting and I’m ready to make some unforgettable new memories out on the Alaskan trail !

Tested out this trail thinking it would be clear to hike but lots of deep, crusty ice. The strong sun’s glare off the ice was blinding. I’d suggest hiking after 2pm so that the direction of the sun wouldn’t be so blinding. #rabbitcreek #Alaska #hikingadventures
