Rescued an immature Bauld Eagle today while on tour. I had been watching the Eagle for the past week as it had a severed left wing and was living on the ground feeding on a small stream of spent red salmon. Thanks to my guests Alfonzo and Brandy Chiles of Eufaula, OK, with the assistance of Barry & Doris Wong, San Francisco, CA. With their help we were able to capture the badly injured Eagle and deliver him/her to Bird TLC in Anchorage. Unfortunately, Raptors of any kind do not fare well with a missing wing and rarely live fulfilled lives in captivity. Hopefully the bird will not need to be put down due to pain and discomfort but I am in hopes we gave it a chance on life. Surprised to find out that mortality rates for immature eagles is less than five years, only 10% make it to maturity. This one most likely was stuck by a vehicle or was attacked by a mature and more aggressive Eagle. Hoping the best for my new friend. I will learn more tomorrow after the doctors evaluation and final decision.

There is “Hope” at the end of the tunnel. Thank you Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and Simmons (AKA 5th Avenue Mall) for hosting the grand re-opening of my company Anchorage Downtown TourGroup. More pictures later just want to give you a preview of what you missed AND a warning. The next time I see you. I better get a explanation of why you missed our re-opening or a copy of your receipt showing proof that you donated to the Hope Center to support the shelter! 😉 all good, we raised a lot of money for HOPE this evening and we still have the remainder of March to raise even more. Most importantly to raise awareness of the homeless artists downtown Anchorage. Those who are looking for an opportunity to express their talent and possibly get paid for doing what they consider their trade.
