We've gotten this question a few times in the past week or so:
"I want to come to Alaska in June/July. Is it too late to plan??"

It's not too late, BUT you'll need to have some flexibility in travel dates to work around availability that's tightening up. We're seeing that mainly in Denali Park lodging and deluxe dome train services between Anchorage-Denali and Anchorage-Seward.

Here's a fun one we had recently: "I'm planning a family trip for us [grandparents] and our three grandkids, ages 7, 10, and 12. The only thing the kids all agree on is wanting to see a bear. I know wildlife is never a guarantee...but any advice on where we might focus our time to up our chances?"

One of our favorite places to see some of Alaska's native animals is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. It's a wonderful place to learn about wildlife and, yes, to see their resident bears. Fantastic for kiddos, and a great organization to support!

Some estimates show that glaciers cover about 34,000 square miles of Alaska (which would cover ... the entire state of Maine, for comparison ☺).

Agreed! We always have *luck* spotting moose on the Coastal Trail around Earthquake Park.

*Sometimes* that means your lunch break goes long because there's a moose blocking the trail. Hey it happens! 😅

This summer a very wise guest of ours said this in response to their flightseeing tour getting rescheduled due to weather: “A rainy day in Alaska is better than a sunny day in most other places.”

Embracing that good attitude on our first proper snow day of the winter here in Anchorage 😊
