Ran, (drove😐) to Taos this morning. We had to stop and take a picture of this tree, it was amazing! There were apple trees underneath with bright red fruit! The Aspen are beautiful in their yellow patches all across the mountains!

Stayin’ at Scissor Tailed Lodge and Snaggin’ Salmon, Sounds like a Satisfying vacation!

It's almost salmon snagging season! October 1 opens salmon snagging at these areas only: Rio Chama, Navajo Lake, Pine River, El Vado Lake and Eagle Nest Lake. Kokanee are the only species of fish that may be legally snagged, and only during the special snagging season. Heron Lake and Willow Creek do not open until November 11.

We just got back from Scissor Tailed Lodge! The weather was amazing as were our accommodations 😉. Beautiful time of year!

Fall is the perfect time to hike the mountains around Angel Fire. With an average of only five days of rain in October, you are almost guaranteed to have great weather and spectacular views. The Deer, Bear, and Elk trails are perfect for families with young children. Or challenge yourself with advanced hikes in the Carson National Forest.

It’s official! The Taos Pueblo has re-opened for public visits! It’s open Thursday through Monday, and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday don’t forget to take yourself and your visitors there and enjoy an afternoon of interesting culture.

We have many mule deer that swing by Scissor Tailed Lodge frequently. I learned the hard way that New Mexico deer love chili ristras!

Bet you didn't know that deer go through an awkward "teenage" phase, too! This Mule Deer fawn is about 2 months old and certainly has some more growing to do to match those ears!

This is just one of three Mule Deer fawns that are residing in our wildlife hospital right now. They are currently in an outdoor pre-release enclosure learning to forage on their own and strengthening their bodies. We are hopeful that in approximately two more months, they will be ready for release back into the wild!

It is neat to see the connection of Oklahoma to New Mexico through the works and philanthropy of Waite Phillips and Philmont Ranch.

The largest single land owner in American history!!
