Santa visits the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park
Santa and Mrs. Claus recently enjoyed a visit to the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park. The Inn, on the shores of Lake James in Angola, offers an indoor pool, restaurant, craft room, library and gift shop. Following Santa's visit, he stopped by the state's only refrigerated toboggan, which is open weekends through Dec. 24, then daily (except Christmas Day) through Jan. 7. The toboggan is then open weekends until Feb. 25, 2024. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To make reservations at the Potawatomi Inn, call (260) 833-1077.
A beloved Hamilton holiday tradition is set for Saturday, Nov. 25. The 24th annual Old Time Horse-Drawn Christmas Parade features 40 lighted and decorated wagons parading through the streets of Hamilton. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and parking is available along the route and on side streets. The parade begins at Hamilton High School and makes its way down Wayne Street to the four-way stop, around Brookside Park and heads back to the town hall. Kids can then meet Santa following the parade. The event is sponsored by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
Ridenour Acres in Angola
You know it's almost fall when Ridenour Acres opens for the season! Starting Sept. 16, hours are noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Find your way through the 11-acre corn maze, take a ride on the barrel train and enjoy a fun hayride into the fields. Nearby Double H Farms will bring their petting zoo five Sunday afternoons beginning Sept. 24. There's so many games and activities for the kids and they're sure to love seeing the Angola firetruck on site. Ridenour Acres also offers three adults-only 'Corn Maze and Cocktails' plus a craft show Sept. 23 and 24. Admission is $10 per person for ages 3 and older. Lake James Classic Boat and Car Show
The annual Lake James Classic Boat and Car Show is set for Saturday, July 30 near the Lake James/Jimmerson Lake bridge. The show features more than 60 classic boats in the water as well as a huge variety of classic cars. See the antique motors and vintage camper trailers and enjoy food, live music and various vendors and artists between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Pick up a passport at any participating store on Dec. 5 then have it stamped at each boutique between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. as you shop for one-of-a-kind gifts. If you collect stamps at eight boutiques, you'll be entered once in the grand prize drawing and if you collect stamps at all the stores, you'll receive two entries. Shop Steuben for the holidays!

In May, calves are born almost daily at Wild Winds Buffalo Preserve in Fremont. Take a tour into the herd Wednesday-Sunday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tours are $10 per adult and $7 for children 10 and under. Bird Watching at Pokagon State Park
Pokagon State Park provides diverse habitats for many resident and migrating birds. You'll find yellow warblers, redheaded woodpeckers, red tail hawks and so many more! Observe the birds at the Woodland Window inside the park's nature center or take a guided hike Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. with a naturalist.
