Sally and Maranda have travelled together a handful of times in the past couple of years. One of their most recent trips with their husbands was to Cabo!

It’s so important to all of us at TBD Travel to have in person experience!

We can help plan the perfect vacation for you, but we can also help you with recommendations on things to do while you’re in destination, if you feel like being adventurous.

One of our favorite things is asking “what’s one thing we can do here that we can’t do anywhere else or something that makes this location unique?”

Something all of us enjoyed was this side by side tour. It took us through the desert, the beautiful views of the ocean and crossing a huge bridge like this 😳

It didn’t take up too much of our day, we got to experience a little more of Cabo and we all had a blast!

I am so excited because after almost a year without international travel (I had my second son this year with lots of pregnancy complications, so was on bed rest) I am finally going back at it this week!! I will be traveling to Punta Cana for a wedding that I have been working with the bride and groom for almost 1.5 years 🥹

It doesn’t always work out this way, but I have grown to adore this bride and will honestly be sad when it’s all over, but truly I am so excited for their big day! There have been lots of bumps in the road, but I do know it’s all going to come together and be perfect for her and her soon to be husband.

If you’re booking a hotel or resort, you should really know the answer to this question 👇

This is going to sound a little bit out of left field but do you know if your hotel or resort is under construction?

Avoid the surprise of finding out you’re going to hear hammering from 8 AM to 5 PM for the duration of your stay by asking these three questions:

1️⃣ Renovation schedules: The first step is to find out. Call the hotel to ask if they will be planning any renovations during the dates of your stay.

2️⃣ Noise levels: Ask about potential noise disruptions and how they’re helping their guests make adjustments at night.

3️⃣ Room assignments: Request a room away from the renovation area or, if it’s not possible, consider a different hotel.

⭐And the ultimate hack? Work with a travel advisor like us!

Money saved, money lost — it may seem cheaper to book a trip yourself but…

I have a bit of a controversial take on luxury travel.

I’m a pretty big believer that luxury travel isn’t always 5-star resorts and first-class tickets (although both of those are nice!).

Luxury can be as simple as having someone else plan and book all the details for your trip so there’s no stress on your shoulders.

Luxury can be an itinerary tailored perfectly to you, without you having to lift one finger.

Luxury can be as simple as seamless logistics, where all the details are planned and organized for you without any stress or wasted time.

Just know that whether your idea of luxury is the 5-star resorts or it’s all of the things I listed above, I’m a DM or email away and ready to assist!

Current travel obsession!

Right now, I’m booking so many vacations in Europe, and I’m hooked.

My hubby had to talk me off the ledge from booking a trip right now.

You’re definitely going to want to bookmark this for later if Scotland or Ireland is on your bucket list. 📌

Have everything planned from the moment you arrive until you get back home safely.

The security of knowing you don't have to stress about what to do, where to eat, etc. in a foreign place.

This is what travel nightmares are made of 😬

You or your partner forgot to confirm the rental car.

The hotel is overbooked, and you get bumped.

If you’re in the middle of a hot mess on your summer travels right now, know that I get it.

You don’t go almost 10 years traveling the world and working in the travel industry without seeing a thing or two.

How much does the hotel or resort you stay at impact your vacation?

For a lot of my clients, it’s a make-or-break element of the trip.

Picture this:

🏝️ You booked a beach resort, but the actual beach leaves a lot to be desired.

🌆 You opted for a resort you thought was good value, but you didn’t realize that for $10 more a night, you could have had a much better stay at the place down the street.

🏞️ You splurged on what you thought was a luxury resort, but it’s totally out of date.

All of these mishaps are things my clients never worry about because I’m serving up personalized recommendations based on their travel style.

I know how much or little accommodations matter to them. I think about things like modern rooms, dining options, and the quality of kids activities/spa services/nightly entertainment so they can enjoy every minute of their very precious vacation time.

Are you a last-minute planner, or do you have everything mapped out months in advance?

I’m a travel advisor, so naturally, my own travels get left to the last minute because I’m so busy working with my clients/my trips are planned well in advance because I’m so excited to check travels off my wish list, and I LOVE the planning phase. I mean one time I realized on my way to the airport for my trip I never booked transportation to get to my resort 😅

Sometimes, the solution is as simple as getting out of your head and your environment and seeing another part of the world. But can we talk for a minute about the quality of your Holiday? It could be a quick 4-night getaway to The Bahamas or a two-week stay in Greece. Here are a few things I've found make all the difference in whether my trips (and the trips of my clients) are great instead of just average. Personalization - This one is totally underestimated, but there are so many places you can go to and hundreds of thousands of hotels and resorts where you can stay. My picks and recommendations are based on all of the information I file away about my clients and how they specifically like to travel. Pre-Planning - It's a total dream when you can arrive at the destination with the little details already taken care of. The airport transport company is waiting, or the rental car company; your tours and experiences are taken care of, so you can breathe easily. An Advocate - When flights get moved or canceled, or you decide you want to stay longer, it's nice to have someone who can step in and move mountains to make things happen quicker for you so you can enjoy your time, not spend it on hold or at the front desk. Just a few things to consider to elevate your next Holiday ✨

When your only plans are a little spa evening in your hotel room overlooking the ocean. 🛁 Life doesn't get any better than this! Any other [mamas/busy working ladies/busy couples] out there who could use a break and a soak in this tub? 🙋‍♀️

Pesky summer travel hiccups + what to do about them ➡️ Seat Swap Surprises So, you’ve checked in online and picked your seats, but then you get to the airport and... surprise! They’ve changed. What to Do: Head straight to the gate desk (not the ticketing counter). Gate agents are your best friends here—they can help fix the seating situation or find someone willing to switch seats. Lost or Delayed Luggage ➡️ Your bags are MIA What to do: Find the airline’s baggage desk near the baggage claim area and file a claim before you leave the airport. If you can’t locate the desk, call the airline ASAP to report your missing luggage. Hang on to those receipts for any essentials you need to buy—just keep it reasonable (no designer splurges, unfortunately). Then, when you’re back, file a claim with your travel insurance. If you got ➡️ Delayed and cancelled flights What to do: Check the Department of Transportation (DOT) Dashboard: If the delay is within the airline’s control, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Airline Customer Service Dashboard will show you what each airline should do to make it up to you. ➡️ Not Loving Your Hotel Room Your room’s not up to par? Here’s how to get it sorted What to do: Ask for the manager. Call from your room or go to the front desk and ask to speak to a manager. Be specific about the issues and honest about what resolution you’re seeking. ➡️ Rental Car Issues What to do: If your rental car isn’t what you expected, contact the rental company’s customer service. They might be able to upgrade or switch your vehicle. Always check the car for damage before driving off the lot and report any issues immediately. I/we hope you don't encounter any of these hiccups this summer but in case you do, use this as your quickstart guide to problem-solving. Enjoy these blissful summer days!
