How to Spend a Weekend in Arley, AL
From a Smith Lake Local

Friday night: check into your rental house and head to Son’s of Arley to grab the essentials - their meat market is extraordinary so I hope you have a grill at your rental house!

Saturday Morning: head to the Arley Public Library to check out a book to read as you tan on the dock. I recommend The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins (it was set on Smith Lake!). While you’re in downtown Arley, head to Bistro 41 for some great coffee or breakfast to get your day started.
Then head back to your rental house and spend some time lounging on the dock, paddle boarding, and just taking in nature before the lake begins to get busy.

For lunch, The Arley Coffee Shop is much more than coffee. Their burger is world-renowned and I personally love the Arley fries.
Then get in the boat and hit the lake! There are so many beautiful spots near Arley to explore. It wasn’t a true trip to Smith Lake is you don’t honk while driving under Duncan Bridge! Your kids will love feeding the fish at Rock Creek Marina.

For dinner, grill out with the burgers, ribs, or BBQ you got from Son’s. Take in the smell of grills firing up all over the lake. Something about being on the water all day just makes you so hungry!

Spend your night watching the sun set while roasting marshmallows and making s’mores.

Sunday Morning: attend Worship on the Water. This is a church service held right on the dock! It’s a unique experience you have to try at least once!

Arley is called “the Heart of Smith Lake” for a reason - not only is it located right in the middle of the lake, but it’s also home to some of the kindest people. If you’ve been looking for a place to relax with a small-town feel, definitely spend a weekend in Arley!
