Born and raised in the Midwest, my plan is to leave the cold and snow of the Northwest suburbs of Chicago behind once my only child graduates high school in a couple of years. Re-establishing my roots further South just also happens to get me closer to the most magical place on Earth - Walt Disney World (WDW)! During my childhood, I was lucky

enough to take many Spring and Summer trips with my grandparents, including several to Disneyland and Disney World. I relive some of my fondest memories when I flip through faded Polaroids of me posing between Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum in a seersucker shorts outfit, knee hi socks and a beat up pair of Keds. I have taken my Disney loving daughter down to Orlando on numerous occasions, but it was not until our trip in June 2021 that I knew Disney was meant to be a larger part of my life. My family had gotten over the initial disappoint of the pandemic wrecking havoc on our 2020 summer travel plans and 12 months later we ventured out on a modified WDW getaway. Taking those first long awaited steps down Main Street and stopping to gaze at the castle, I watched as my daughter's eyes welled up with tears. Even through her mask I knew see she was grinning wide as the Cheshire Cat. In that moment, I wanted to make sure I possessed the ability to lend a hand in helping others make similar magical memories. I have also been fortunate enough to be able to extensively explore the US as well as gather a slew of stamps in my passport due to both business and leisure travel. A very happy birthday to Epcot! This past Saturday marked 40 years since the park opened its gates, allowing guests to explore the cultures of the world around them. Not only can guests travel from Mexico to Canada over the course of one day, but they can also be immersed in the future and save the galaxy with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Fun fact: the park’s icon, Spaceship Earth (also referred to as the “golf ball”), is made up of over 11,000 triangles!

This post has been in the making for literally months.

Last Fall I joined the MOMT team and completed all my required training to be a travel concierge but I was hesitant to get started.

Why? Sometimes the expectations and pressure I place on myself are a bit much and I freak myself out a tad.

I have been busy planning a July road trip for us that will encompass a series of college campus visits, several days at Disney World rounded out by a few days in Memphis to celebrate Mollie’s participation in the St. Jude Leadership Society.

I am LOVING researching places to stop, sleep, eat and explore. With the pandemic creating a loss of business travel and a reduction of leisure trips, I forgot how much I enjoy the process of vacation planning.
