Let’s look at why Fiji is such a popular dive destination. It’s timely to do this while we’ve got our Fiji group dive trip there and you get a chance to see all the great diving footage they’re collecting. We’re posting this on Facebook.

Fiji’s stunning landscapes with pristine beaches and lush rainforests attract visitors all year round. There’s more than 330 islands in Fiji and over 145 dive sites making it one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world. Let’s look at what makes the diving special in Fiji:

(1) It’s the Soft Coral Capital of the World - you’ll find a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors creating a spectacular underwater paradise perfect for exploring.

(2) There’s an incredible variety of marine life, ranging from colorful reef fish, manta rays, dolphins to sharks.

(3) There’s diving suitable for all levels of dive experience. Beginner friendly coral reefs to challenging drift dives and deep walls offer something suitable for everyone.

(4) Great visibility often exceeding 100 ft makes it easy to spot marine life.

Liveaboard packing essentials for beginners

These things should be on your liveaboard packing checklist.

1) Important travel documents - This includes your passport, visas, itinerary, travel confirmations, travel insurance, medication list and anything else essential. Keep these with you, not in your checked in baggage and keep photos of them easily accessible.

2) Diving certifications and licenses - These are required so you can go diving, so don’t forget them.

3) Scuba gear and any dive accessories - Packing scuba gear such as masks and fins can make your dive experience more pleasant as often they fit better than rental equipment.

4) Seasickness pills or other options - If you’ve ever been sick on a liveaboard you know that it can be very unpleasant. Packing seasickness options is essential for your first aid kit.

5) Things to do - Include anything you want to do during your downtime. There will be some entertainment options onboard, but packing a few extras, like a book or a pack of cards, is a good idea.
