****APPRECIATION ALERT****

We are so very floored by people’s generous donations of time, money, and ice cream freezers (and other items too!) to make camp happen! Thank you simply isn’t adequate enough to express our deepest gratitude.

Special shout out to Feldy's Ice Cream for the ice cream freezer for our camp store experience; Eric Grinager for planting some bushes and trees at camp (and his brother John for the donation!); and First United Methodist Church Yankton for being our healers this summer with the first aid kit and supplies donations!!

There are others who have donated financially for us to get a new golf cart, a new rescue board for our waterfront, and so much more! Camp seriously couldn’t happen with YOU!!

T-minus 12 days before we welcome our first summer camp of the season! We are fully stocked in our camp store and can’t wait to see you sporting some SWAG! Here are some break downs of what we have and pricing:

Thank you, Canton United Methodist Church for your generous donations of coffee for camp and new kayak paddles!!

You donated over 60 pounds (yes, POUNDS) of coffee for our summer programming. We thank you on behalf of all the preteens, teens, adult volunteers, and camp staff who are fueled by coffee and Jesus this summer!

Please join us on Saturday, May 4th (Star Wars Day!) to help prepare the camp for our summer programming. We will begin at 10am, with a break for lunch at 12.

Work projects we have include:
- landscaping and weeding
- cleaning the main lodge
- preparing the camp kitchen
- minor repairs in cabins
- setting up a pickleball court
- splitting wood for campfires

Let Nicole know that you are interested in coming so we can have a headcount for lunch.

We had a great weekend growing in faith and learning about what makes being United Methodist unique. Our learning, studying, and fun revolved around United Methodist topics such as the sacraments, grace, the Wesleyan Quadrilateral, and the membership vows we take as we are confirmed into our local church. Thanks to all confirmation youth and their adult leaders who attended!

Over the course of the summer, we served over 800 guests between our United Methodist programming, guest groups, family reunions, and chapel here at Lake Poinsett Camp. And we couldn’t have done that without YOU.

If you’re able to come and have access to an air compressor, we ask you bring it so we can start blowing the lines for the cabins to winterize them.

One of my favorite scripture passages over the years has been Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 - There is a time for everything. After lots of prayers and conversations, we decided it is time for a new chapter for our family. This was a hard decision for us as we have been living at camps for 22 years. I have accepted a new job at Dakota State University as the Assistant Director of Residence Life. I am looking forward to this new role. We are moving to Madison, SD at the end of August. I will start my new job in September . My husband will continue working at the Arlington School and will drive the boys to school . Thank you for welcoming us to the Dakotas eleven years ago. Our lives have been blessed in many ways by serving at Wesley Acres Camp and Lake Poinsett Camp. It has been our joy to see God working in so many ways through our local churches, guests, donors, campers, and volunteers. We will miss seeing your smiling faces around camp, but know that God has opened up a new door for us. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and having time to participate in community activities. Please pray for the next leaders of Lake Poinsett Camp as they continue to help guests experience Christ, creation, and community. Blessings on your day. Christy
