"Cosmic Wind." Friday's G5 geomagnetic storm sure did create some absolutely incredible aurora displays! This was my first time getting to witness them and it did not disappoint. There was a point where it seemed the night sky's curtain was pulled back. Moonbeam-like light filled the sky in every direction, while color became visible and the Lady Aurora began to dance.
Hand's down the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed.

Last night was unbelievable! These are just the shots I got from my iPhone. I can’t wait to edit the ones I got with my camera.
There was about a ten minute window where it was like the sky opened a curtain and we could see all the light and color with our own eyes all around us.
There’s a good chance to see them again tonight, so get out there and look after dark!

It's March! That means winter is finally coming to an end and spring is right around the corner. It also means that migratory birds, like this Sandhill Crane, are beginning to return from their southern wintering grounds. What flora and fauna do you look forward to in the spring?

"Golden Hour on Whitehorse Mountain." I captured this moment as the storm clouds broke while the sun began to set. It was really a sight to see in person. This image is now available to buy as a print on my website!
I am also in the process of updating my website with images I've taken over the last few months. Some of them may not be seen on this page, so be sure to check out my site!

"Grooming Time: Moose Edition." I had the pleasure of watching this bull moose for a while in Grand Teton. He found the perfect dead branch to be able to hit the right spots for a nice scratch.

This is a Trumpeter Swan. Named for their trumpet-like call, they are North America's largest waterfowl with a wingspan of up to 8 feet long. By 1930, the species was nearly extirpated in the lower 48 from hunting and habitat loss. A small population of only 70 birds survived in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and provided the basis for the species later recovery. There are now three distinct populations (Pacific, Rocky Mountain and Interior) with around 63,000 birds.

Today is National Bird Day! It was created in 2002 to raise awareness of the significance of birds to our ecosystems. So here are a handful of my favorite bird pictures I've captured over the years. I hope you enjoy!

Also, I still have 2024 calendars available for sale! For every calendar sold, I will be donating $5 to The Nature Conservancy to help with habitat conservation and restoration.
