Starting on January 8, 2025 US travelers—as well as visitors from Australia and Canada—will be required to apply for permission to enter the UK through a new scheme known as Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

After several delays, the UK ETA application portal officially opened for non-European travelers on November 27, 2024. US travelers with trips planned to the UK next year can now apply via the UK ETA mobile app or website. While most applications are approved the same day, it can take take up to 72 hours—so don't risk leaving it to the last minute.

Zambia lost most of their rhinos to poaching. Now in order to protect these magnificent animals, they are dehorned every 12-24 months as not to be killed by poachers for their highly prized horns.
The demand comes mainly from China, where horn is not only symbol of economic status but many people believe its power as aphrodisiac. There needs to be more outrage and more protection or we loose these animals.

Amazing experience. We watched this lioness for almost an hour as she was preparing to hunt. There were impalas by the riverbank and she slowly, slowly advanced to them, taking little breaks till she positioned herself behind the bush, ready to strike.

Special moments like these are what makes Musekese camp such a great place.
Surprise lunch on the river for me and my guide. We ate while chatting and looking at hippos, crocs and elephants.

Getting to Musekese Camp in remote part of northern Kafue National park is a plane, car and boat affair, but so worth the ride!

Getting to remote safari lodges in Africa many time requires flying small bush planes. On my trip to Musekese camp in Zambia, it was 2 passengers Cessna 712, smallest plane I ever flew and my pilot Dihan actually let me fly the plane!!
On return slightly larger 6 seat plane.
My recommendation if at all possible is to take early morning flight. As the day gets hotter, plane ride can be a turbulent affair.

Beautiful KuKaya camp in South Luangwa National Park, one of the 8 properties of the Bushcamp Company.
The company is a leader in conservation and community involvement. They provide 4000 meals a day for school kids, they drilled 250 boreholes to provide safe and clean water for 75000 people and sponsor 350 students annually.
