In April, the ladies of AWC donated gently used clothing, shoes, purses, and jewelry to the Christian Women's Job Corps to help the women in the program prepare for a job in the workforce.

The day was rainy, but it didn't stop the women from dropping off lots of items for the women to choose from.

Performing Arts Installation and Awards May 2

John and Sara DeMore dressed in “Blues Brothers” attire and installed the 2024-2025 PAD officers. Each officer was serenaded by the DeMores’ special rendition of the Everly Brothers’ tunes. Following the installation Judy Duke assigned each PAD member a special song along with a special Award. The annual Strawberry Awards were full of nostalgia and were presented to those who “deserved” them for amusing comments they had made in the past. As always, the refreshments were plentiful and delicious. May birthdays were celebrated as well.

The AWC Travel department had a good time on an overnight trip to Huntsville and College Station. They toured the Sam Houston Museum in Huntsville and visited the George H. Bush Library in College Station. The ladies even wore their pearls to honor Barbara Bush. As always, they enjoyed delicious meals and participated in the wine tasting at Messina Hof before returning home.

The ladies of the Travel department enjoyed a busy day in the town of Nocona, TX. They visited the Tales and Trails museum and learned about the area, including the life of Enid Justin (from the Justin Boot family). They also toured the Nocona Baseball Glove Factory, where baseball gloves have been made since the 30's. Lunch was enjoyed at the Blue Ostrich vineyard and winery in nearby St. Jo, TX. They also toured the 60,000-square-foot orchid greenhouse, which supplies orchids to businesses across the mid-section of the country. Before returning home after a long day, they squeezed in a little shopping at the Red Rooster.
