Hey Good People!
So......................things are ramping up in the world of weather and the coming system looks to pack quite a wallop for the Central Sierra/Bear Valley area. Today snow showers look to show face sometime around mid-day as the system arrives. A warm front coupled with lite winds will keep the daytime temp close to 30F today then rising close to 40F by 11pm or so this evening. Rain will fall initially then change to a mix of rain and snow by mid-day Sunday before the temp drops Sunday night, beginning the heavy snowfall portion of the system.
Projections with the current model runs show 32-45" of new snow by Wednesday but timing of the cooler air will certainly play a hand in the volume we may receive. As with any AR event we usually get pummeled, but remember, this is still the Fall into Winter weather patterns which can look good at first then fizzle out a bit(we've seen this before). My current feel is we'll see up to 30" and any more than that is just an awesome bonus for base building to get the season started off right.
As with heavy storms like these, make sure to check out the Sierra Avalanche Center if heading out into the back-country and heed any warnings they may offer up. Skiing & Riding is not available at the resort during these early season cycles before we open as personnel as well as active avalanche hazards may exist.

Showers. Temperature rising to around 39 by 11pm. Southwest wind 9 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
