Due to an error, individuals purchasing Christmas Trees from the Stanislaus National Forest were incorrectly charged. Those charged $20 per tree will see a $10 per tree refund to the account they used to purchase the permit from Recreation.gov.
This issue impacts only those individuals who purchased their permit for the Stanislaus National Forest’s Christmas Tree program.

TL/DR
• Some Stanislaus National Forest visitors were incorrectly charged for Christmas Tree Permits in 2024. Impacted customers were charged $20 per tree instead of $10 per tree. All Christmas Tree Permits associated with this refund are valid permits.

• The error was caught and corrected by the forest, so not all visitors were charged $20 per tree.

• Impacted visitors will receive a $10 per tree refund from Recreation.gov.

• Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be credited to the original bank or credit card used to pay. In some instances where a card refund is not possible, we will issue a US Treasury check.

• The forest deeply regrets the error to those visitors impacted by this mistake.
