Don’t trust a label in my kitchen: This “sugar” is now quick grits. Freezer bags that say “tomatoes 2019” may contain cubes of pesto from 2023. In recipes, I layer sticky notes of changes for my kitchen oven, my mom’s, and a few oldies from Grandma Bow’s oven, which has no numbers on the stove top. But when I pass you that recipe, I do not share my experimentation process. Bottles of spray liquid that say ant killer but are really bleach and vinegar waiting to ruin your favorite shirt. I am my mother’s daughter, so don’t trust the label system.

Bears are awake! Geez. Took the trash out and an hour later we heard the can topple. This is not our usual hood (adolescent we knew since baby) bear, unless it put on 100 lbs and grew 2” the few short months they hibernated this very warm winter. Big bear was still very scared by sound; I banged out a melody with the little endcap on the porch. Bang bang bang. It tore down my compost bin

Little closet remodel in progress We stopped renting kids’ rooms a long while back, so this is totally a remodel to honor our growing girl (who currently has multiple fashion designs in the Top Ten Daily for a girl with limited screen time). Babies don’t keep! I do love doing projects with this little human.

Mama’s glorified outhouse. We live in 983 sf. Not bad when vacationing, but one bathroom and two children (esp given that 6’1” ) we sometimes need more room for two people pottying at once and this mama working (writing a book!). So, introducing our artists’ shed; they three of us. It will have a tiny loft for Mabel, ethernet connections for brother, and a porch for disappearing (aka, napping).

Thank you for the vintage chair My parents had a chair and couch very similar except it was brown on brown with some black and cream. This chair has yellow in it, which matches our couch ( donation) so nicely. I needed a piece of my childhood to show up, and here this is. Just had to buy it. The chair sits like new.
