A big milestone for Asheville residents and businesses: clean water has been restored to the city’s taps and the boil water notice has been lifted! This is another incredible example of the resiliency and strength of our local community.

With power fully restored and potable water widely restored, attractions, restaurants, breweries, music venues, hotels, inns and businesses (outside of higher impact areas such as Swannanoa and parts of the River Arts District) are open, widely available and welcoming guests across the Asheville area.

What's Next for and Our Cottages 🤨

We are all asking ourselves "What's next?" as our mountain communities shift their focus towards recovering a sense of normalcy after all that has transpired.

Things are changing quickly in and around Asheville.

⭐️ Many restaurants and businesses have reopened, power and water service has been restored to most areas, schools are back in session, and though there is still much repair and clean-up happening in certain areas, Asheville has opened its doors back to visitors.

⭐️ Notably, the Estate has reopened and kicked off their annual Christmas at Biltmore on November 2nd.

⭐️ The North Carolina Arboretum is also opened and started its Winter Lights show on November 15th.

As for the Asheville Cottages, we are looking forward to welcoming all of our upcoming guests for the end of 2024 and into the new year. 🙏

It's World Kindness Day! A perfect day for a Staff "Shout Out"... 📣

We have long known that our staff are not only stellar employees, but some of the kindest, most selfless, and generous people we know. In this time of upheaval, a few of them have gone above and beyond in their commitment to serving and uplifting our WNC community.

When the hurricane first hit, our manager Pam cooked a hot breakfast each day for the members of her entire gym. She also took home peoples' laundry to wash and dry for them if they were out of power or water.

The first week after the hurricane, of our cleaners, Camille, drove to Tennessee to gather supplies and transport them back for distribution.

Kevin, our maintenance superhero, has hauled water from Biltmore Church, which is a distribution center in Asheville, to various locations including West Asheville and Waynesville.

He and his wife Becky have also partnered with Banner Elk Disaster Relief to transport supplies such as water, medication, clothing, and sleeping bags to Banner Elk, a hard-hit area where some folks still don't have electricity or running water. They are still making trips to Banner Elk each week.

We are so proud to have these phenomenal people on our team! 🙏

It's hard to believe that just a little more than a month has passed since Hurricane Helene swept through our beloved Asheville, leaving us all to grapple with the sudden changes in our mountain community. 🗻

On the other side of the tragic losses and hardship that Helene left in its wake, we have been overwhelmed with the beauty of human connection that we are witnessing as people come together to uplift one another, fostering hope and healing.

Our family has been amazed at the outpouring of support from you, our past guests, and people across this country that we've never met.

In this time of political division, that support stands as a true testament to Americans' unity and devotion to each other.

Our Go Fund Me Campaign Update 📣

Our son Andrew created a Go Fund Me campaign for our relief efforts last month, knowing that we had cancelled all of our guests and opened our cottages to those in need immediately after the hurricane.

We are deeply humbled to have raised over $50,000, which has allowed us to house families, Forestry Service workers, and to offer potable water, hot showers, hot meals, and laundry facilities to those who lost homes, power and/or water.

Even in the face of adversity, the laughter and camaraderie we have shared with these guests and visitors has helped to lift all of our spirits.

Marshall and I are both incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this fundraiser. Words cannot begin to express our gratitude.

It has been both a pleasure and an honor to be able to serve our community during this time. 🙏
