Look what a volunteer dug out of the mud! We had such little notice of the storm that basically no plans were made to safeguard anything. My studio was at the top of those stairs, more than 20 feet above ground level. The water still came in. 😔 The fact that my sign was recovered and is in decent shape is a small miracle. ❤️ Please please continue to support the WNC artists in any way you can.

Hey all, While I am still not sure where Ignite Jewelry Studios and Bluebird Designs will end up in the future, Riverview Station was my home base for the past decade. They are doing an incredible job of cleaning up, and really it is truly a huge and backbreaking job after all the destruction. Please consider donating even a few dollars if you support art/artists. Riverview Station provides studio space to 150+ artists.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our fundraiser recently. We met our match! We are so grateful to all of you!

We have completed the pressure washing in the upstairs brick buildings and are starting to work on cleaning the downstairs. We moved the temporary water line downstairs yesterday and will be able to start pressure washing next week.

I spent several hours this morning reviewing photos from one week after the flood. Feelings of grief washed over me as I experienced again the devastation of so much lost art and beauty. At the same time, I acknowledged how far we have come since then. Each shovel of mud, each removed drywall board, every single screw that has been pulled out of a stud has gotten us closer and closer to reopening. We will keep on moving forward every day and eventually we will get there!

But the pictures also reminded me that the devastation that the flooding caused at Riverview Station is so vast that we will not be able to fully reopen without financial support from the community.

Flood insurance has only covered a small portion of the damages to our property, the Small Business Administration has not offered us a loan, and FEMA doesn't help small businesses. We have received several small grants, for which we are very grateful, but there is a very large gap between the funds that we need to rebuild and the funds that we actually have.

These are my Twig Necklaces. I picked a piece of twig off a vine behind my former studio in the River Arts District and cast it. I wonder if the plant could have possibly survived the flood....

My little happy space! This will be heaped with laundry and sprinkled with snack crumbs in a matter of days I'm sure, but for now it is all mine. I am finally getting the time to do a few things for me post flood. It feels good and healing ❤️
