Our team is okay. The damage to our community and surrounding areas is unimaginable. We are actively helping with recovery and resiliency efforts - working with other community leaders to assess damage, determine need, and get critical supplies to people.
We know that without power and the internet, it is hard to stay informed. If you are local or know people who are, 88.1 Blue Ridge Public Radio is a good source and 99.9 Kiss Country is also providing regular updates. If you have access to a portable radio or car radio.
According to the county, they are concerned about having enough supplies for babies. If you can help to provide things like diapers, wipes, formula, etc, please reach out to us.
Shout out to T-Mobile for free Wi-Fi and charging stations; Sam’s Club and Fresh Market for free water distribution; and numerous restaurants for free meals. Huge shout out to NC Climate Justice Collective for their support in recovery and resilience efforts. We will update everyone again soon on HHI recovery efforts.
In the meantime, if you are looking for resources, a WNC Helene Resource Guide is circulating. Resources being shared on social media are being compiled into one organized document. You can view it here - https://bit.ly/wncheleneguide
