Mt Rainier Reconnect

Just completed an improvement for future cabin guests. It’s currently raining. Normally that would mean our guests would be inside the cabin looking out at the fire pit hoping the rain/snow would stop. Not anymore. We just put up this 24’x16’ tent. So nice to be sitting next to the fire tonight,listening to the rain falling on the top of the tent. Much needed improvement. I’m sure our future guests will appreciate it. Now? Should I put one down at the campsite fire pit??

Never know who you will bump into out here. I have to say,sharing a hammock with a tree frog is not something I was prepared for. Little guy looked pretty happy just chilling and enjoying the sunshine.

The lower riverside camp site is really benefiting from the sunshine and warmer temps. The grass is growing fast,the ferns are getting taller and the salmon berries are starting to come out. What a beautiful weekend!

4:50 pm Friday 1/12/24 Current conditions at the Cabin. 18° zero wind and a little over 2’ of snow on the ground. Been a wild week out here. Blizzard warnings,heaviest snowfall I’ve ever experienced. 45mph winds,trees blowing over,branches breaking under the weight of the snow and several tree related power outages. Our generator at the cabin didn’t skip a beat and ensures our guests will not be affected at all. We have guests coming in on Sunday. Today was spent getting the place accessible by car. Got half of the driveway plowed/cleared of snow today. Tomorrow we will get the rest of the driveway and the parking area in front of the cabin cleared. Life on the mountain is always an adventure.
