Mount Rainier National Park seeks public input on timed entry reservation pilot program - Let the park know what you think about the pilot program unveiled earlier this year to reduce crowding during peak visitation.

Mount Rainier National Park is asking the public for feedback on the timed entry reservation pilot program for visits to the Paradise and Sunrise Corridors that was unveiled this summer and will last through Labor Day 2024 (Sept 2).
The pilot system is currently required for visitors coming into the park between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and is intended to distribute visits more evenly during the busiest times of day. The goal is to reduce crowding, provide a better visitor experience, improve safety, and reduce impacts to park resources as visitation to the park continues to increase.

More and more people from all over are discovering all that Mount Rainier has to offer. Visitation has grown from just over 1.1 million in 2013 to about 1.6 million in 2022. Most of those visits occur between July and September and are concentrated in a small number of destinations, including Paradise and Sunrise.
“We are eager to learn what visitors think of the pilot timed entry system we are testing out this summer,” said Superintendent Greg Dudgeon. “We want to hear how the pilot did or did not work for people before we finalize our long-term visitor use management plan for the Nisqually to Paradise Corridor at Mount Rainier National Park.”

The timed entry reservation pilot is in place through Monday, September 2, 2024.

It could be said that this home was the start of Mt. Rainier National Park Cabins. At just 21 and 22, Rachel and Nick set out on an exciting journey to purchase their first homes. Fate placed them as neighbors, with Rachel's quaint two-story right across the street from Nick's charming rambler. Their paths crossed often, and what started as friendly hellos turned into shared moments and deep conversations. Before long, they fell in love, their romance blossoming in the cozy embrace of their neighboring homes. While Nick's home was sold, Rachel's house, though no longer their residence, remained in the family, witnessing an engagement, wedding, college graduations, new careers, and the birth of their two beautiful children. As stewards of Rachel’s house, Rachel and Nick opened its doors to multiple families over the years. Their house saw new beginnings, as others celebrated births and marriages and formed their own countless memories within these walls. The house evolved, transforming into a furnished rental that welcomed visitors from all walks of life. They provided a safe haven for those touched by tragedy, offering solace and a place to heal. New residents found temporary refuge here, their hearts set on finding a place to call their own. For 16 years, Rachel’s house stood as a sentinel of the community, each year adding layers of memories and love. Rachel’s house watched children grow, neighbors come and go, and lives change. Every corner of the home echoed with the stories of the people who had walked through its doors. It's time for a new story to begin, for another family to find love, joy, and comfort within these walls. With a mix of nostalgia and hope, they look forward to the future, ready to pass on the legacy of their beloved house to the next stewards who will undoubtedly add their own chapters to this never-ending story.
