Our travel tree….we try to get an ornament each time we visit a new country. 😍 38 countries this year! Our tree filled up quick!

Day 17: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Since laundry services are so expensive on the ship, we all wash and dry our laundry almost daily in our bathroom sinks and hang outside on clotheslines to dry. After laundry time this morning, we sat at the peer taking advantage of the free wifi and the kids finished math and geography lessons. We walked around trying to find a supermarket but since it's a Sunday almost all stores were closed and we could only find a small drug store open where we picked up a few needed items. It made me laugh that they have Havaiana sandals in grocery stores all around for only about $8 usd here. We all got a pair as a souviner of Brazil. Rio is a beautiful city in many ways but it really was eye opening the amount of poverty on the streets. The majority of lovely buildings were covered in spray paint and trash littered the streets and the water at the port.

Next stop... Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Day 12: Cape Verde, Africa
The kids got to add a new continent to our journey today. It was another adventure filled day. We visited the beautiful island of Sao Pedro. We explored the island in a truck with benches in the back with a local as a guide and got to to swim with sea turtles! The kids were a bit nervous about hopping into the back of the truck with strangers but it turned out to be a lot of fun!

Day 8: Day at Sea
Today we read books, practiced fractions, took cake decorating classes to learn how to make a crab and an octopus out of fondant and met some lovely new friends from Turkey and France. The ship was very rocky so a few of us weren't feeling the greatest. We are all excited to visit the new country of Portugal soon!
