I hosted a group on a Virgin Voyages cruise to Greece. We had a blast!

Athens: we stayed in Athens overnight before the cruise. A few of us had dinner at Hill restaurant and it had a breathtaking view of the Acropolis. This whole area was a vibe! The cobblestone streets lead you from one to another restaurant, bar or lounge. It went on and on. Just walking through this area showed true character of history mixed with a contemporary flair. We did go to the Parthenon located at the top of the Acropolis. You will need to get your tickets early for a time slot to get up to the Parthenon. If you wait until the day of, you will stand is a long line and get a time slot for later that day. It was extremely crowded there.

Santorini: I must start with the difficulties of even getting into Santorini from the port. We had to catch a tender from our ship to the port and then you either had to catch a cable car up or ride a donkey up the mountain. Depending on how many cruise ships were at the port that day determined how long this process was going to take. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to finally reach the top that day. Once you got to the top you would see a plethora of shops, restaurants, and lounges. This is the destination where alot of people do the flying dress photoshoot. Some of us did it and some did not. For those who did not, they just enjoyed the scenery. I personally went on a private tour of the island with one other person in the group to the other side of the island. We were then taken past a black sand beach and drove around a little more. We had to get back at a decent time though because you do have to get back down that mountain and do the process all over again in order to get to your cruise ship on time. I must say that I feel like I could fly into this destination and spend a couple days. I feel like it has to be more that I didn't see.

Rhodes: this destination didn't have a whole lot going on so my group opted to take a catamaran around the island. We stopped in various places to jump off the boat and enjoy the water or just have photo opportunities. This route around the island was breathtaking with the views and beautiful water.

Bodrum Turkey: we then went to Bodrum where the group decided to do a Turkish bath. We also added on other services such as hour long body massages. This was very interesting because most of the women decided to do this process naked which they encourage. For the Turkish bath you go from the steamer to the freezing cold water a few times and then get rubbed down and given a bath. Very interesting process. If you've never experienced it, I would say you at least have to try it once...especially in Turkey.

Mykonos: now this destination definitely had an aura about it. Although our cruise ship stayed overnight, I felt like I needed more time there. I am definitely flying back there to spend more time. My group decided to do a beach club in the day and most of them hung out in downtown Mykonos all night. They have shop after shop after shop...even the high end shops (LV, Gucci and Dior just to name a few). The prices are a little lower and the selection had a few different pieces. Mykonos is known as the party city in Greece. Just to be able to hang out there gave you such a vibe...a great atmosphere!

On the ship: I love going on Virgin Voyage cruises. The fact that there aren't children...alone is a big draw for me. The food is cooked to order...there are no buffets. That is another draw for me and the food is very good. They have high end shops aboard along with a casino. I always recommend this cruise line to my clients. The service aboard the ship is top notch and you don't have to tip...it's already included in your fare. The entertainment is pretty good and different. I found myself going to one of the lounges and seeing a band that played late night. Others opted for the club aboard the ship. There is something for everyone! There are also some shows that you can partake in and bingo. Feel free to go back and see my other 2 reviews on Virgin Voyages.

General information: the currency is the euro and I found that I didn't need that much because you can use your card quite a bit but you do need some for tipping, buying things in some small shops or maybe even some transportation. Greece nor Turkey wanted no parts of the US currency. The best time to travel to Greece is between May and October because the weather is hot and everything is open. In the winter months alot of the restaurants and shops are closed. The hottest and most busiest months are July and August. The food in Greece was seasoned well and very good. The iconic Greek salad does not include lettuce (like we are so use to in the US). When using taxis establish the price before hopping in. They seem to come up with prices off the top of their heads and some of them charge too much. Greek is the official Language but I didn't have any problems speaking English there and them comprehending. Always be prepared to use your translation app though.
There are alot of hills and stairs. You must be prepared for alot of walking and keep in mind that some of the streets/stairs are very slippery. In some areas when using the bathroom they ask that you put all toilet paper in the trash...not to flush them.

Greece was a bucket list trip for me and I opted to do it as a cruise first so I can see where I would want to spend more time later.

New Years cruise! This was my 2nd cruise on and honestly my review is exactly the same as the 1st time. It's an Amazing Cruise line with great food (all cooked to order) and No kids! The entertainment is classy but edgy. The only thing I would've changed was the port that I left from. We left from Miami which is a gamble weather wise, that time of the year. In the winter I prefer to leave from a warmer climate to guarantee I will experience the weather that I Love!

This was a bucket list event for me...well partly. I really want to be on a beach for Christmas through the New Year.

They did a Phenomenal job with giving us an Amazing New Years Celebration on the ship.

I highly recommend this cruise line and going on a Vacation for the Holidays. Contact us now to make your bookings....

San Juan, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷...what can I say.
I hadn't been here in a while and was welcomed with a New and Improved San Juan. I really had a great time!

San Juan is a really good place to hop to because its easy. When I say easy, I mean...most speak English, they use cash, it's only a 3 1/2 nonstop flight to get there from Atlanta, the climate is warm year round, it's very rich in culture and it's one of the few islands where you don't need a passport. I would recommend San Juan for someone's 1st Vacation, for family's, couples, and definitely even solo travel. There's plenty of places to hang out...The Condodo area (they consider the Miami vibe), Old San Juan area and The La Placita area...just to name a few.

The food for the most part was very good...all over the island.

I will definitely be going back really soon. This is a great weekend vacation option if you find that you're needing a quick getaway.

Lima is Peru's capital and largest city of the country, situated along side of the Pacific Ocean.

It took me a minute to figure out "Why Lima"...I figured out that most visitors to Peru are breezing through Lima, anxious to explore the country's most famous landmarks...literally just passing through to get to other parts of Peru. Now don't get me wrong, there is alot of history and museums to see but most of what these travelers are coming for is another plane ride and/or train ride to other places. Machu Picchu is one of the main attractions there but its a plane ride and a train ride to get to from Lima. I wanted to do this but it would have taken more than 1 day to get there and back so we decided against it. However, I suggest for others to plan to go to Machu Picchu. After all, it is one of the seven wonders of the world. I also suggest Rainbow mountain. I'm sure that's breathtaking.

I will say that the architecture will remind you of Cartegena a little...well at least the area by where the president lives (The Presidential Palace)...the Plaza de Armas...in the historic centre. There is alot of culture to take in. The Government Palace of Peru is located there...in the northern part of the Plaza Mayor, on the banks of Rimac River.

I'm a huge foodie and I just knew I would find some great Peruvian food there...especially since I love Peruvian restaurants in Atlanta. Well that did not happen. We tried different restaurants and nothing stood out. We actually had to keep eating at our hotel. We went a couple blocks down to the JW Marriott and their menu was more geared toward Asian fusion...not Peruvian.

Massages...if you know me then you know that massages are apart of almost every vacation of mine. I love to see how massages are given in other parts of the world...especially since they are mostly so cheap (anywhere but the US). I had 2 massages while I was there...one at a random spa that we found while we were walking around...it was $25 and not very good (which is rare) and another at the Wyndham connected to the airport for $35. I hung out there while waiting for my flight. Now that one was excellent. Go to "" to get that review.

Speaking of the hotel. We stayed at The Pullman Lima Miraflores and that hotel is more geared toward business travelers but is a very nice modern hotel (a newer hotel). It is situated in a great location. You can walk to alot of places
from there. They do have a jumping (well jumping for them) rooftop area where everyone hangs out at night.

There was not much of a nightlife in Lima from what I can tell. We did have live music nightly at our hotel but the atmosphere was very laid back. We visited an area called Barranco where the nightlife was suppose to be but I found that it was just alot of bar hopping. They call Barranco the "hipster" artsy Bohemian district.

We mostly just walked around, eating, shopping and observing. After a few days of that...hmmmm we were ready to go...even left a day early...especially since we couldn't find any good food.

The people of Lima speak Spanish. I would definitely suggest having the Google translator app available on your phone at all times if you don't speak Spanish. The currency is Soles (Sol). My other handy app is the currency one, which will quickly tell you what their money is worth against USD. For example $20 US dollars equal $76 of theirs. Most places do take the US dollar but they don't necessarily like one dollar bills. However, I do suggest having some $1 dollar bills available on you.

Lima was very underwhelming for my taste and what I like. However, Lima is actually a pass through type of destination. People are going to Peru to hike, and trek along their favorite bucket list places. If these are the adventures that you seek, then Lima may be for you.
