Everything was perfect! This was a wonderful cabin for our family of 5. Our kids 16, 14, and 11 enjoyed fishing, the row boat and kayaks. Waking up to the view from the loft was one of the kids favorites! The cabin was very clean and I loved cooking in the well stocked kitchen! Check-in was so easy and communication was wonderful with the hosts! If you are looking for a place to book this is it! Don’t pass this one up! It’s amazing! Perfect place for wonderful getaway! This cabin and location is perfect for relaxing! It is quiet with plenty to do and gave us quality family time! Great memories were made on the water, playing games around the table and having s’mores around the fire. We would highly recommend this cabin!

Meet your Hosts ✨

Hello! We're the Padela's. Me, my wife Lenka and our two kids moved from the Czech Republic to Michigan at the end of 2015 for my work. Originally, we planned to stay in the US only for 2-3 years and then move back.

Six years later and we are still here. During the pandemic, we started thinking about getting a cabin up north to get away with our kids to relax and spend quality family time. After months of looking we could not find anything that met our criteria. After a few lost bids we came across what is now Czechmate's Escape. We bought the house and found the community in Atlanta is full of great and kind people and are so grateful we ended up here.

Views from the cabin and sunrises over the lake make this place a sanctuary where we can relax and forget about daily stress. Therefore, we decided to share it with other people who would appreciate it the same way as we do and we started renting the cabin out during the time when we cannot go there.

We are filled with joy that we get to share this special place with so many other families and we can't wait to welcome more in the future.

To the eye this is just a bedroom, to our kids it’s a secret clubhouse, their getaway and the best sleepover spot.

Did you know that during the summer we have two single kayaks and rowboat available for exploring the lake?

Crooked Lake is a natural woodland lake and therefore it does not have a sandy or firm bottom. The lake is about a mile long with boat launching sites on both ends, 89 acres large with a max depth of 45'. Many varieties of fish can be caught here including pike, bluegill, perch, walleye, and large and smallmouth bass. Crooked Lake is great for kayaking or paddling. There is an official public beach area at the north end of Crooked Lake.

We put a lot of thought into every aspect of the cabin. We needed a way to help visually separate the dining room from the living area, and adding a rug easily accomplished this.
