I just had a potential guest, who is planning to bring their boat, ask about weather. My recommendation is to always book your coastal vacation despite the weather forecast! And here is a local’s explanation as to why:
I will say that with weather here literally changes daily. My husband and I live just down the road in Morehead City. We take our boat out all of the time, and we just can’t look at the weather report from the night before. We literally have to get up that morning and see what the weather is doing. Then we might be out on the boat in the morning, and it’ll completely change in the afternoon. I say all that because the weather is very different here than most coastal areas, and it does change daily. Also, what is great about this area is that if it’s raining in Morehead City, it realistically might not be raining in Atlantic Beach, for example.
If it does rain for part of your trip, then it’s nice to sit on the back deck with a drink, relax, and enjoy the sound of the rain as you look out on the water. The rain at the coast forces us to slow down sometimes. 🙂
